Luke Scott (oblique) took 30 swings off a tee Monday. "Everything went well," said Scott, who refused to project a return date for himself. The veteran outfielder/designated hitter has been on the DL for a little over a week with an oblique strain and will likely need a couple more weeks of recovery time.

According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, Luke Scott(lower back) says that he is heading to the disabled list. Scott left Friday's game in the 11th inning when his back started acting up on him again. It's the same injury that sent him to the DL earlier in the season. While he initially thought he would be able to play through it, it looks like the Rays will play it safe. Hideki Matsui will likely be the primary beneficiary of the additional at-bats while Scott is out.

Luke Scott (lower back) said he expects to return to the Rays' lineup Sunday. Scott left Friday's game in the 11th inning, and is being listed as day-to-day. The setback isn't nearly as serious as the back injury that put him on the disabled list earlier this season. Hideki Matsui will likely replace him in the lineup Saturday against the Mariners.

Luke Scott continued to unthaw in Sunday's win over the Indians, roping a pair of doubles and driving in two runs. He'll still enter the breaking hitting a rough .205/.260/.409 on the year, however.

Luke Scott, after enduring an 0-for-41 stretch, homered for the second consecutive game in Saturday's loss to the Indians. Scott finished the game 2-for-4. His two-run blast off Ubaldo Jimenez in the fourth inning got the Rays on the board, and would be the only runs they could muster until B.J. Upton's solo shot in the ninth. He's now hitting an even .200 on the season with 11 homers and 40 RBI.

Luke Scott (back) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Durham. Scott should only need two games in Durham before being cleared to rejoin the Rays. He's been out since June 9 with muscle spasms in the middle of his back.

Luke Scott (back) is scheduled for a brief minor league rehab assignment before returning to the Rays. It was originally reported that Scott would be available for Monday's three-game series with the Royals, but that no longer appears realistic. The Rays reportedly want Scott to play 2-3 games in the minors before being cleared to return.
