Uehara (pectoral) will throw off a mound Tuesday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will be the first time that Uehara throws from the mound since being placed on the DL on July 20. The club has yet to indicate when they intend to bring Uehara off the disabled list, but more information should be available as he increases his throwing activity.

Uehara (pectoral muscle) threw from 150 feet Monday, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox were initially pessimistic about Uehara's return this season, but his progress to this point was unanticipated. The next step is to get him throwing off a mound, but there's no timetable for that yet.

Uehara (pectoral muscle) began throwing from 90 feet Thursday and repeated that Friday, Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe reports. "He'll increase the distance and the volume based on tolerance," Red Sox manager John Farrell said.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara's been getting treatment both with ice and electric stimulation, but remains a log way from recovery. He's hopeful he can pitch again this season, but that's something we won't know until September.

Uehara (pectoral muscle) is playing catch from as far as 60 feet, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports. "He'll likely go through having more of an ultrasound just to double-check and get a view of what's going on there. But his throwing progression will be gradual. So, typically, we go 30-foot increments - 60 feet today. That may (happen) a couple of times repetitively before we begin to stretch him out," said manager John Farrell.
EDGE Analysis
While seeing Uehara throw is hopeful, his return to Boston's active lineup is not a lock. How he responds in the early days of this throwing program will determine that.

Uehara (pectoral) received a platelet-rich plasma injection Friday and will be shut down from throwing for the time being, Jason Mastrodonato of The Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever told reporters Thursday that his pectoral injury would likely keep him out for one month, but it's unclear how Friday's procedure affects that timeline. Regardless, Boston is hurting in the bullpen even with recent additions given that Uehara and closer Craig Kimbrel are on the shelf. Brad Ziegler will likely be called upon to close out games while those two are sidelined.

Uehara (pectoral) told Japanese reporters that he expects to miss a month, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox bullpen continues to get bad news as Uehara will be out until mid-August, leaving them vulnerable in the ninth inning as Craig Kimbrel also remains out with a knee injury. Uehara will now focus on rehabbing his pectoral with hopes of returning for the homestretch of the season.

Uehara's MRI results confirmed that he strained a pectoral muscle and he remains without a timetable to return, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Now down two closers, the Red Sox are expected to turn to Brad Ziegler as the primary option until Craig Kimbrel returns from his knee injury. Uehara's timetable should materialize at some point during the rehab process, but it remains murky following the MRI.

Uehara (pectoral) will have an MRI and is without a timetable to return to the Red Sox's bullpen, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
In Uehara's absence, Brad Ziegler will step in as the team's primary closer, at least until Craig Kimbrel is ready to return from his knee injury. Once the results of Uehara's MRI become available, a timetable for his activation should become clearer.

Uehara (pectoral) was placed on the 15-day DL on Wednesday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara will hit the DL after what has been a disappointing season thus far. The 41-year-old owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.03 WHIP through 39 relief appearances, which is a huge setback when you consider he has never had an ERA above 2.86 as a reliever since 2010. The Red Sox will hope Uehara can get back to his old self once healthy and have called up Noe Ramirez to take his place for the time being.

Uehara left Tuesday's game after feeling something in his right pectoral muscle, the Boston Globe's Alex Speier reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Farrell said he is uncertain how long Uehara will be out, and the team will likely conduct some tests Tuesday and Wednesday to evaluate their fill-in closer. In the meantime, Brad Ziegler figures to get the bulk of the save opportunities, as Craig Kimbrel (knee) won't return until sometime in August.
