Uehara pitched a scoreless ninth to nail down the save in Sunday's 5-4 victory over the Yankees. He allowed a hit and struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
With Craig Kimbrel unavailable after notching a four-out save on Saturday, Uehara got the call to preserve a one-run lead in the ninth. The 41-year-old came through, yielding a two-out single to the red-hot Gary Sanchez before retiring Mark Teixeira to end the game. Uehara has now converted his last six save opportunities dating back to June 24, although he doesn't figure to get many chances with Kimbrel locking down the ninth inning for Boston.

Red Sox manager John Farrell wants to use Uehara in a few low-leverage situations before pitching him in tight games, Christopher Smith of Mass Live reports.
EDGE Analysis
Farrell had Uehara pitch the ninth inning of Friday night's 13-3 win over Toronto. It was his second appearance since coming off the DL, both coming in low-leverage situations. As a reliever capable of getting both left-handed and right-handed batters out consistently, Uehara is the ideal eighth-inning solution for Farrell, who has been unable to trust any member of the bullpen in tight spots the last month or so.

Uehara pitched a scoreless eighth inning, striking out two, in Boston's 7-2 win over San Diego on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't exactly a high-leverage situation, but it was encouraging to see Uehara pitching effectively in his first outing since being activated off the disabled list. Particularly when manager John Farrell has had several eighth-inning choices blow up on him the past month. Uehara's return gives the manager another arm he can confidently deploy in the eighth inning.

Uehara (pectoral) was activated from the 15-day DL on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite formally rejoining the Red Sox roster, Uehara won't be available out of the bullpen in Monday's series opener with the Padres, as the organization wants to give him just one additional day to rest up. Uehara, who last pitched for the Red Sox on July 19, is expected to be reinserted as the top setup man to closer Craig Kimbrel.

Uehara (pectoral) is slated to be activated from the disabled list Monday, Evan Drellich of The Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
After coming through Saturday's bullpen session no worse for the wear, Uehara has been cleared to rejoin the Red Sox and should quickly reclaim his role as the primary setup man for closer Craig Kimbrel. The Red Sox won't use Uehara in Monday's series opener against the Padres in order to grant him a little extra recovery time, but the right-hander will be available out of the bullpen beginning Tuesday.

Uehara (pectoral muscle) threw a live batting practice session Saturday and emerged saying he feels 100 percent healthy, CSNNE's Sean McAdam reports.
EDGE Analysis
The expectation is that he will be activated Monday, although the club has not finalized that announcement. Once activated, he will resume the setup role in front of closer Craig Kimbrel.

Uehara (pectoral muscle) will throw live batting practice Saturday, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
If that session goes well, Uehara could be activated off the disabled list Monday. Once back on the roster, Uehara will resume his eighth-inning role, an area the Red Sox desperately need to shore up.

Uehara (pectoral) faced live hitters Monday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Uehara was able to throw about 20 pitches off the mound in the session, which was the first time he'd faced live hitting since sustaining his injury. The reliever has been able to ramp up his activity of late, as he threw over 50 pitches in a bullpen session last week, so it would appear that a return in early September remains a strong possibility.

Uehara (pectoral muscle), who threw a 53-pitch bullpen session Friday, will throw another one Monday, Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Optimism is the word to describe how the Red Sox feel when discussing Uehara's return this season. Manager John Farrell said he expected Uehara to begin facing live hitters in a batting practice setting within the week. "Given the two bullpens that he's thrown and the volume combined with the intensity, he's making some pretty good strides here of late," Farrell said.

Uehara (pectoral) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox were happily surprised with the velocity that Uehara was able to put on the ball in Tuesday's throwing session. Moving forward, Boston plans to give Uehara a couple of days to rest before having him throw bullpen sessions on Friday and Monday.
