Kevin Gregg blew his first save of the season on Saturday night against the Mariners. Gregg had been a perfect 12-for-12 in save opportunities. Tasked with protecting a one-run lead, the veteran right-hander yielded a walk to Henry Blanco and then a game-tying RBI base hit to Endy Chavez. Gregg still has a cool 1.71 ERA in 26 1/3 total innings this season and is not in danger of losing his job as the Cubs' closer.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves are likely to pursue Cubs right-hander Kevin Gregg. Gregg, 35, has posted a promising 1.42 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 26/7 K/BB ratio in 25 1/3 innings this season for the Cubs. He should draw interest from multiple teams as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Cubs have received "multiple hits" on Kevin Gregg. It's no surprise that the Cubs want to take advantage of Gregg's surprising year to see what they can get for him via trade. The veteran reliever has converted all 11 of his save chances this season and boasts a 1.11 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. Contenders are likely viewing him as a seventh or possibly eighth inning guy.

Kevin Gregg nailed down his 10th save of the season in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals. Gregg came on in relief of Jeff Samardzija with one out and two on in the ninth and allowed an RBI single to Yadier Molina. He then induced what turned out to be the game-ending double play when pinch-runner Shane Robinson was called out for interference. He's capable of blowing up at any time, but Gregg has plenty of job security with a 0.81 ERA and 0.99 WHIP while going 10-for-10 in save chances.

Kevin Gregg earned the win by tossing 1 1/3 scoreless innings in Sunday's 10-inning victory in Cincinnati. The veteran right-hander is a perfect 6-for-6 in save opportunities and hasn't allowed a run in 13 1/3 innings this season. This is a guy who was released by the Dodgers in early-April and didn't have a job on April 13. The much-maligned Gregg has risen to fantasy relevance once again and figures to remain there, as Chicago doesn't have many alternative options if the 34-year-old runs into problems down the road.

Cubs manager Dale Sveum confirmed Wednesday that Kevin Gregg will serve as the team's closer. Sveum has declined to make anything official until now, but he finally acknowledged Wednesday that Gregg has earned the opportunity. The veteran right-hander is a perfect 5-for-5 in save opportunities and has now allowed a run in 7 1/3 innings this season. We don't think his run of success will last long, but he should be owned in all fantasy formats. Kyuji Fujikawa will serve as a set-up man when he returns from the disabled list.

Kevin Gregg tallied his fifth save of the season Tuesday in the Cubs' defeat of the Cardinals. Gregg struck out Pete Kozma, induced a pop-up from Matt Adams and got Matt Carpenter to line out. The veteran right-hander has not allowed a run in 7 1/3 innings this season and obviously needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues.

Kevin Gregg made it 4-for-4 in save opportunities after getting four outs against the Padres on Monday. Gregg struck out two. He's gone four straight outings now without walking a batter, which is quite unusual for him. It's unusual enough for him to go four straight without allowing a run. The Cubs and fantasy owners might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Kevin Gregg tallied his third save of the season Saturday as the Cubs topped the Marlins 3-2. Gregg retired all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning, fanning one. The 34-year-old right-hander has not allowed a run in five appearances with the Cubs and is 3-for-3 in save opportunities. While the good times are doubtful to last, he needs to be owned right now in all standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Kevin Gregg retired the Marlins in order in the ninth inning on Friday, preserving a two-run lead and notching his second save of the season. Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, this in no way means that Kevin Gregg is now the closer for the Cubs. Carlos Marmol wasn't available after working three of the previous four days. With Kyuji Fujikawa expected back from the disabled list soon, don't go wasting too much of your free agent budget on Gregg.
