Gregg was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Monday. Gregg was moved to the 60-day DL to open up a roster spot for Carter Capps, who was activated from teh 60-day DL on Monday, on the 40-man roster. Gregg's season is over with the Marlins, and he will be a free agent in the offseason.

Gregg will undergo season-ending surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports. Gregg was forced out of action last month with what was labeled elbow inflammation, but it's been determined that he needs arthroscopic surgery, and he'll miss the rest of the 2014 campaign as a result. The 36-year-old gave up 10 runs on 11 hits in just nine innings with the Marlins, and he'll almost certainly have to settle for another minor league deal in the offseason.

Kevin Gregg (elbow) has yet to resume throwing. Gregg is eligible to return early next week but isn't expected to be ready at that time. The veteran reliever was placed on the disabled list shortly after the All-Star break with soreness in his pitching elbow.

Marlins placed RHP Kevin Gregg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 14, with right elbow inflammation. Gregg evidently must have felt something during his final relief appearance before the All-Star break. It's not clear how long he'll be sidelined.

Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Kevin Gregg from Triple-A New Orleans. Gregg signed a minor league contract with the Fish on June 3 and is now going to get a shot in the major league bullpen. The 35-year-old right-hander had a decent 3.48 ERA in 62 innings last season with the Cubs.

Marlins signed RHP Kevin Gregg to a minor league contract. The agreement was reported on Monday and now it's official. Gregg is expected to join the Marlins in about a week or so and will receive a prorated portion of $2.1 million, which works out to about $1.4 million, per CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. The 35-year-old is coming of a 3.48 ERA and 56/32 K/BB ratio over 62 innings last season with the Cubs and will provide Miami with another late-inning arm.

Kevin Gregg said Thursday that he's been pitching to college hitters near his home in Oregon to stay in shape and is "ready to go" once he gets an offer he likes. Gregg said he's been in contact with several teams since last fall but has yet to get an offer that entices him. The reliever wants a guaranteed deal and is willing to work as a setup guy with games-finished incentives in his contract. While he might not be able to land a guaranteed late-inning role right away, a lot of teams could probably do worse than Gregg as a middle relief option. He saved 33 games while holding a 3.48 ERA with 56 strikeouts over 62 innings for the Cubs last season.

The Mets are meeting with the agent for John Axford and Kevin Gregg on Wednesday, according to MLB Network Radio's Jim Duquette. Both players would be late-inning options for the Mets, Duquette says. The Mets are in the market for high-leverage relievers in the event their incumbent closer, Bobby Parnell, isn't ready for Opening Day. The 35-year-old Gregg hasn't drawn much interest this offseason but should land a gig somewhere after saving 33 games for the Cubs this past season.

Back in the closer's role for some reason, Kevin Gregg gave up an unearned run but still picked up his 33rd save Wednesday against the Pirates. Pedro Strop, who was announced last week as the Cubs' new closer, pitched a scoreless eighth for the hold. Gregg got the ninth in a three-run game for his first save since Sept. 13. He took losses in his previous two appearances.
