Ruggiano was outrighted to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers had designated Ruggiano for assignment two days earlier in order to make roster room for starting pitcher A.J. Griffin. After finding no suitors interested in either trading for Ruggiano or claiming him off waivers, the Rangers will be able to keep the outfielder in their organization as Triple-A depth.

Ruggiano is starting in left field and hitting seventh Wednesday against the Mariners, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
With southpaw Wade Miley on the mound, Ruggiano will get his first start of the year, with Ian Desmond moving to center field. The Rangers have a lot of options, and those options will only increase as the season goes on, but it would not be surprising for Ruggiano to be in the lineup most days against lefties, whom he has a career .856 OPS against.

Ruggiano will be on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Worth of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano beat out Drew Stubbs, another right-handed outfielder with significant platoon splits. Given that Ryan Rua also made the team and Josh Hamilton (knee) is expected back in May, it's hard to envision Ruggiano getting more than a few starts per week anytime soon.

Ruggiano will play first base for the first time in his professional career Sunday in the Rangers' spring training game against the White Sox, Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has played the outfield for his entire career, but with the signing of Ian Desmond, Ruggiano would not be of much use to the Rangers in that capacity as things currently stand. Only $500,000 of his $1.65 million salary is guaranteed, so if Ruggiano does not prove himself capable at first base, he would likely be left off the Opening Day roster. He has a career .856 OPS against lefties while Mitch Moreland only has a .650 OPS against southpaws for his career, so they could form a dynamic duo at first base for Texas in 2016.

The signing of Ian Desmond to play left field will limit Ruggianio's potential upside.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano was a dark horse to have a significant role, though his prowess against left-handed pitching fits well in a reserve role if he has a good spring training.

Ruggiano would be among the internal candidates given an opportunity to seize the open left field spot if the knee injury to Josh Hamilton requires surgery.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano is past the point in his career where he'd be an effective full-time option, but his prowess against left-handed pitching remains intact and he could carve out a role on the short side of the platoon depending on how Texas would fill the possible Hamilton void.

Ruggiano signed a one-year, $1.65 million deal with the Rangers on Thursday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran outfielder spent the 2015 season with the Mariners and Dodgers, compiling a .248/.333/.472 slash line over 125 at-bats. He figures to provide depth in the Rangers' outfield and he does offer some value as a pinch hitter against lefties (.301//.370/.578 vs. LHP in 2015).

Ruggiano elected free agency Friday, Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano was actually playing well after joining the Dodgers, slashing .291/.350/.618 in 21 games following a trade on the last day of August, but opted for free agency rather than accepting a demotion to Triple-A. Though the 33-year-old ended the season strong, he'll likely start the season as an extra outfielder or a depth piece wherever he lands.

Ruggiano was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano was a terrific addition for the Dodgers near the end of the season as the 33-year-old slashed a .291/.350/.618 in 55 at-bats, mainly against left-handed pitching. He'll likely serve as organizational depth in the outfield if he chooses to accept his demotion, but he will more than likely opt to become a free agent this offseason instead.

Ruggiano went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a steal and a run scored in a 6-2 win over Pittsburgh on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruggiano has been ridiculous since being acquired from the Mariners, as he is hitting .333 with three homers, four doubles, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in seven starts and 11 total appearances. He is also suddenly fantasy relevant, as he bats atop one of the most dangerous lineups in baseball against southpaws.
