Ruggiano beat out Drew Stubbs, another right-handed outfielder with significant platoon splits. Given that Ryan Rua also made the team and Josh Hamilton (knee) is expected back in May, it's hard to envision Ruggiano getting more than a few starts per week anytime soon.
