Josh Willingham (wrist) remained out of the Twins' lineup Friday. Willingham took batting practice Wednesday but still had some swelling in his left wrist. There's been no indication that the disabled list could be a possibility, so it's probably safe to assume Willingham will be back sometime over the weekend unless he's had a setback.

Josh Willingham (wrist) reported improvement after hitting in the batting cage Wednesday. The update comes less than an hour after the Twins said Willingham had yet to swing a bat yet, but obviously he his feeling better. While the club is expected to lose Oswaldo Arcia to the DL with a wrist injury of his own, it sounds like "Hammer" is close to returning to action.

Josh Willingham (wrist) has yet to swing a bat. Willingham hasn't played since exiting Sunday's game after being hit on the left wrist by a pitch. The outfielder is hoping to avoid the disabled list, but the Twins don't want to play a man short so he's going to need to show progress soon. Oswaldo Arcia is dealing with a wrist injury of his own but is expected back soon.

Josh Willingham (wrist) is hoping to return to the lineup Wednesday. Willingham sat out Monday, one day after leaving a game when he was hit on the left wrist with the pitch. The Twins are off Tuesday, so he'll get at least two days off, but it's not a given that he'll be ready Wednesday. "We'll find out when I pick up a bat," Willingham said. "Maybe Wednesday."

Josh Willingham is not expected to need a stint on the 15-day disabled list after being hit in the left wrist with a pitch. Willingham was hit by a Justin Masterson fastball on Sunday, but did not suffer a fracture. Good news for the Twins, as Willingham is a good source of power when he is healthy.

Josh Willingham went hitless on Friday and is 1-for-20 with seven strikeouts this spring. The Twins badly need a bounce-back season from Willingham in the cleanup spot behind Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer. Maybe they'll get one, but this is a rather depressing start.

Josh Willingham confirmed he would be open to signing an extension to stay with the Twins after this season. "I do love playing in Minnesota," Willingham said. "From the organization to the weather to my friends and teammates, all that stuff is a plus for me. I would love to stay here for another year or so (beyond 2014)." The 35-year-old batted just .208/.342/.368 in 111 games last season but belted 35 home runs and 110 RBI in his first season with the Twins in 2012. Willingham is in the final year of a three-year, $21 million deal.
