Hamilton (knee) is expected to return in mid-May and won't require a stint on the 60-day disabled list, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton is already slated to start the year on the disabled list after dealing with some requisite knee soreness following offseason knee surgery. However, the Rangers are comfortable with him staying on the 40-man roster during that time frame, meaning that Hamilton won't have to be transferred to the 60-day disabled list. The Rangers are aiming to have both Hamilton and pitcher Yu Darvish back on the field sometime in May.

Hamilton (knee) is on track for a mid-May return, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Jeff Wilson reports.
EDGE Analysis
This deviates from the initial goal of Hamilton returning on May 1, but the team insists there has not been a setback, they just feel mid-May is more realistic. Upon Hamilton's return, it is very cloudy as to what his role will be, as Ian Desmond is slated to be the teams left fielder this season. The lack of a clear role, coupled with injury concerns and a dip in production last season make Hamilton a player to avoid in most formats.

Hamilton (knee) "has turned a corner" and is slated to start working in the field in the near future, TR Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
An illness knocked Hamilton out of camp Thursday, but the focus of this spring has been entirely on tending to the inflammation in his left knee. The hope all along has been a season debut on May 1, and field work would be a clear step in the right direction.

Hamilton (knee) left camp Thursday with an illness, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
There have been illnesses running around all spring training camps, and Hamilton and teammate Elvis Andrus became the most recent victims. He'll be healed soon though, allowing him to return to the rehab process for his knee.

Hamilton (knee) has shed his crutches but remains limited to rehab work in the pool and hasn't been cleared to resume baseball-related activities, the team's web site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton is expected to remain sidelined for the first month of the season and it remains to be seen how Texas will juggle a healthy Hamilton along with Ian Desmond in left field.

Hamilton could see less playing time than previously expected when he returns from injury, due to the Rangers' acquisition of Ian Desmond.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers' current plan is for Desmond to play left field with the door open to several other positions, per James Wagner of the Washington Post. That would leave Hamilton as the fourth outfielder, behind Desmond and Shin-Soo Choo, but with a healthy amount of playing time while Desmond moves around. This is all still up in the air, as Desmond's play in April could lead to a different path, but it's looking increasingly likely that Hamilton won't be breaking 400 plate appearances this season, which he hasn't done since 2013.

Hamilton will begin the 2016 season on the disabled list due to left knee inflammation. The Rangers expect him to return by May 1.
EDGE Analysis
For a player with a history of injuries (played just 50 MLB games in 2015 and 89 in 2014), it's not a good sign that he won't start his campaign at the same time as his teammates. When healthy last season, the 34-year-old outfielder did show he still has power (eight home runs, 25 RBI over the 50-game span). Potential owners will now need to weigh in a shortened season when looking at the veteran, but if he can remain healthy after returning, Hamilton could provide a nice return on a discounted investment.

Hamilton is seeking a second opinion on his injured left knee, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton's injured knee is not showing much progress, so he is visiting an independent doctor to determine if there is another course of treatment. It's not entirely clear where Hamilton stands health-wise, but it's certainly not a good sign that he is still experiencing soreness. Expect his status to be updated when the results of his latest exam are released.

Hamilton (knee) is set to meet with team doctors over the weekend, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reports surfaced earlier in the week that Hamilton was still experiencing pain in his surgically repaired knee, and now that pain will warrant further medical examination. Hamilton's knees have been a major reason for concern in recent years, so the upcoming visit with doctors is troublesome for Hamilton owners. More information on his status figures to be made available over the weekend, and there is still some optimism that Hamilton could be ready for Opening Day given that he has been able to do some baseball activities of late.

Hamilton is still dealing with soreness in his knee, the Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hamilton had minor knee surgery earlier in the offseason and received a cortisone injection after still experiencing some pain, but it appears to be acting up once again. The 34-year-old is still optimistic that he'll be ready for Opening Day, but it could be a situation worth monitoring if the soreness doesn't subside throughout the spring.
