Josh Beckett was bombed for four runs on nine hits over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Braves. It was a nightmare from the outset, as Beckett also walked four. Fortunately, his offense and bullpen bailed him out in the 8-4 victory. Beckett was thrilled to see the Braves after not facing them for more than five years -- he entered the night 6-0 with a 0.38 ERA in his last seven outings against the club. Beckett was 0-4 with a 3.30 ERA in his last five home starts. The veteran gets the Cubs in Los Angeles next time around.

Josh Beckett (hip) will be activated from the disabled list to start Tuesday against the Pirates. That was the hope all along, but it's now official. Beckett is dealing with a labrum tear and two cysts in his hip, but he's feeling better after a cortisone injection and will attempt to pitch through it.

Josh Beckett admitted that he felt "better than expected" on Saturday after throwing off a mound for the first time since his cortisone injection. His MRI revealed a small labrum tear in his hip, though it's believed to be something that he can pitch through. The team remains hopeful that Beckett will be cleared to rejoin the rotation against the Pirates on Tuesday.

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Friday that he remains hopeful that Josh Beckett (hip) will be able to rejoin the rotation on Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Beckett has been sidelined since July 7 due to a left hip impingement. He has reported significant improvement in recent days, and barring any setbacks it looks as though he'll miss just one scheduled start.

Josh Beckett (hip) played catch from 90 feet Thursday. It came just three days after he had a cortisone injection in his left hip. "Josh feels pretty good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "Played catch up to 90 feet, felt good. We're hopeful that this time will allow the injections and all of that to take hold, and we'll be able to strengthen areas that he needs to and just kind of feel better in general." The Dodgers are hoping the right-hander will only miss one start.

Adrian Gonzalez went 1-for-5 with three RBI in a win over the Rockies on Sunday.Gonzalez' line on the whole isn't very impressive, but he delivered a bases-loaded single in the fifth that plated two and drove in another run with a groundout in the eighth. For having a relatively down year, the first baseman is still fourth in the NL with 56 RBI. Gonzalez will look to improve upon his .254/.319/.438 line in the season's second half.
