Fernandez (10-4) suffered through a rare beating in Saturday's 9-1 loss to the Braves despite recording eight whiffs, giving up nine runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk over 5.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The hard-throwing righty couldn't figure out a Braves squad that he'd entered Saturday's game with a 4-1 career record against. Fernandez came into the sixth inning having only given up a first-inning, two-run homer to Freddie Freeman, but then unraveled when he allowed four consecutive batters to hit safely, and saw a fifth reach on a throwing error. The final blow was a 390-foot three-run shot by Jace Peterson that closed out the seven-run frame. While he's always been a more effective pitcher at home, it was still highly unusual to see the 23-year-old hit as hard as he was, especially considering the opposition. Fernandez will try to put the outing behind him when he takes on the Reds next Friday.

Fernandez (10-3) struck out 13 over seven innings Sunday while giving up just one run on four hits and three walks in a win over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
He generated an incredible 23 swinging strikes in 108 pitches to record his sixth double-digit strikeout game of the season. Fernandez's 138 K's on the season are already new franchise record for strikeouts before the All-Star break and he'll get two more chances to pad that total, including Saturday's start in Atlanta.

Fernandez allowed just one hit and two walks over seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts but took a no-decision in Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Fernandez showed no rust whatsoever after skipping his last start. He now has quality starts in seven of his past eight starts and has lowered his ERA from 4.28 to 2.36 in that span. Fernandez's seven strikeouts Tuesday is actually his second-lowest total in the hot streak. He now has an absurd 125 strikeouts in just 87.2 innings, and his 12.8 K/9 is a full strikeout better than the next best qualified pitcher, Stephen Strasburg (11.4 K/9).

Fernandez will skip his next start, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to manager Don Mattingly, missing this start has nothing to do with any sort of injury and is a part of a pre-season plan, and Fernandez will skip another start at some point later this season. Fernandez wasn't sharp in his last start Saturday, allowing four earned runs, but he only allowed three total runs in the last five starts prior to that.

Fernandez (9-3) gave up four runs on five hits while striking out eight in Saturday's loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Despite shutting down the first 17 hitters he faced, Fernandez was tagged with his first loss since April 29. Midway through the sixth, The Marlins ace seemed to have the kind of stuff that pitchers have when they throw a no-hitter, maybe even a perfect game. But it ended with five straight two-out hits by the Diamondbacks in the sixth. Those five batters scored more runs (four) than Fernandez had allowed in the previous 41 innings combined.

Fernandez (9-2) tossed seven scoreless innings Sunday, scattering four hits and striking out 14, in a 10- win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The strikeouts tied his career high, and Fernandez tied a Marlins record by winning his eighth consecutive start. It's also the fourth time in his last six starts that he has struck out double-digit batters, pushing his K:BB on the season to a massive 110:25 in 74.2 innings. Fernandez will look to set a new franchise record for consecutive wins Saturday in Arizona.

Fernandez (8-2) tossed seven shutout innings with just three hits allowed and six strikeouts over seven innings in a win Tuesday over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Fernandez is on fire, with seven consecutive quality starts to his name and five straight starts with one or fewer earned runs allowed. He has struck out six batters or more in all of those quality starts to boot. Fernandez had an underwhelming 4.37 ERA through his first four starts, but this white-hot streak has his ERA down to 2.53 to go with a brilliant 96:25 K:BB in just 67.2 innings.

Fernandez (7-2) pitched seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits while walking one and striking 12 batters, the most since his first start of the season when he picked up 13 K's against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Fernandez has been lights-out this month, winning all five of his starts while allowing more than one run in just one of those outings. He's sporting a sweet 90:15 K:BB and a smooth 2.82 ERA through 10 starts. Fernandez will face arguably his toughest opponent of the season in his next outing on Tuesday against the Pirates.

Fernandez (6-2) allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out nine over six innings to earn the win Saturday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Fernandez gave up a run in the fourth inning to fall behind before the Marlins scored three times before his exit to earn him the victory. He's now held opponents to one or fewer runs in each of his last three outings to lower his ERA to 3.02. He'll make his next start Thursday at the Rays.

Fernandez (5-2) allowed just one run on four hits and three walks while striking out 11 in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
The one run that Washington did get across the plate was hardly Fernandez's fault, as Marcell Ozuna and Giarcarlo Stanton collided in the outfield to give Ryan Zimmerman an inside-the-park home run. Fernandez now has back-to-back outings with 11 strikeouts, giving him a fearsome 69:23 K:BB in 47.2 innings on the season to go along with a 3.21 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. His next start will be a repeat matchup at home against the Nats on Saturday.
