Niese (chest) is feeling fine and will not need to see a doctor for an examination, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports. It was earlier reported that he would need to visit a doctor after leaving Saturday's game with a rapid heartbeat, but he will instead head home to Ohio and begin his offseason.

Niese, who left Friday's start early due to an elevated heart rate, will meet with a doctor Monday, the NY Post reports. Niese was feeling better Saturday, but the Mets will have him meet with a doctor, especially since this is not the first time this has occurred. Niese was also a bit light-headed when he left the game, which may be another reason for the examination.

Niese left Friday's start early due to an elevated heart rate. Niese apparently had the same issue earlier in his career but ultimately was advised that he didn't need surgery to correct it. He may discuss his options regarding the matter again in the offseason, but it likely won't effect his availability for the 2015 season.

Niese allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 7.1 innings to pick up the victory in the Mets' 4-2 win over the Braves on Saturday. Niese took a shutout into the seventh, but departed with the bases loaded. Josh Edgin gave up a two-run single to Freddie Freeman, but Carlos Torres squashed the threat and Jenrry Mejia tossed a scoreless ninth to give Niese the win. Niese has allowed more than three runs just one in his last eight starts, while going 4-2 in that stretch.

Niese made one mistake and it cost him, as he allowed a two-run home run to Wilson Ramos in the seventh inning of the Mets' 3-0 loss to the Nationals on Sunday. Niese allowed just those two runs on six hits with seven strikeouts in seven innings. He has just a 3.55 ERA on the season, but is only 8-11 due to the moribund Mets offense.

Niese did not record a decision Monday against the Rockies as he pitched 6.2 innings and allowed one run, eight hits and one walk to go along with seven strikeouts. Niese pitched well Monday, but didn't get much support from his offense. Although he posted a solid strikeout total Monday, he hasn't provided many over the course of the season as he only has 122 in 168 innings.

Despite giving up six earned runs on 10 hits over six innings against the Marlins on Tuesday, Niese came away with the win, improving to 8-10. He also struck out four and didn't issue a walk. Niese was staked to two different four-run leads in this one, offsetting his general inability to miss Miami's bats. He actually was able to groove 20-of-28 first-pitch strikes, but sometimes being around the strike zone too much can lead to batters squaring balls up more frequently, as the Marlins did on this night. Nonetheless, Niese now has a 3.68 ERA with a 1.31 WHIP in 26 starts this season and will face the Rockies in his next start Monday.

Niese allowed three runs and nine hits in 7.1 innings Thursday to take the loss against the Braves. He issued one walk and struck out five. Niese allowed just one run over the first seven innings, but gave up a few in the eighth to make his outing look worse than it really was. The veteran lefty continues to give the Mets quality innings, not allowing more than three earned runs in 23 out of 25 starts this season. His average fastball velocity is down almost two mph from 90.2 to 88.6, but he's still able to get outs, aided by a 1.93 G/F ratio. He hasn't been as good away from home this year, and while his next start is on the road, it's not a spot in which he should do poorly, pitching against the Marlins.

Niese (7-9) took the loss on Friday against the Dodgers, giving up five runs (two earned) on eight hits over 6.2 innings pitched while walking three and striking out four hitters. The Mets' pitcher pitched well enough and may have had a shot at a win if not for the defense. Niese has only had two games all season long where he has allowed more than three earned runs in a game. He currently sports a 3.47 ERA for the Mets.

Niese allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six in six-plus innings to pick up the win in the Mets' 7-3 victory over the Cubs on Saturday. Nises cruised through the first six innings, allowing just one run, before running into trouble in the seventh. He allowed two runs and left with the bases loaded and no outs, but Vic Black retired the next three batters with no additional damage. Niese has now tossed back-to-back quality starts for the first time since he went on the disabled list in early-July.
