Lackey (8-7) held the White Sox to one run on four hits and a walk over six innings Thursday, earning his first win since June 8.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey had gone 0-5 with a 5.73 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in the eight games since his last win, and a matchup against crosstown ace Chris Sale didn't look promising. But he was able to keep the ball in the yard -- something that's been a struggle this year -- and edge out his star counterpart. His combination of veteran savvy and proneness to the long ball is likely to ensure that Lackey's ERA remains in the high threes.

Lackey (7-7) allowed three runs on five hits, struck out five, and walked two over six frames in a loss against the Brewers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander has pitched better in his last two starts, but he still has nothing to show for it, as Lackey hasn't won a decision since June 8. In his last eight starts since then, he has five losses and a 5.73 ERA. Lackey has also given up 10 homers in his last 42.2 frames. He will try to end this losing skid Thursday against the White Sox.

Lackey (7-6) allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over eight innings to take the loss Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey came up short against Rangers' ace Cole Hamels, leading to the Cubs' right-hander losing his sixth decision of 2016. He's now allowed at least four earned runs in four of his last five starts to raise his ERA to 3.75. He'll make his next start Saturday at the Brewers.

Lackey (7-5) allowed five runs on seven hits, including two home runs, and two walks over six-plus innings Sunday but came away with a no-decision in a 6-5 win over the Pirates. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
He actually held a 5-4 lead after six innings but gave up a hit and a walk to begin the seventh and was lifted for Pedro Strop, who allowed the tying run to score. Lackey's hit a rough patch to close out the first half, posting a 6.91 ERA over his last five starts and 28.2 innings thanks mainly to a 2.2 HR/9 rate. He's still striking batters out at a career-best pace though, racking up a 9.1 K/9 over that stretch, and if he can keep the ball in the park after the All-Star break he should be able to turn things around.

Lackey (7-5) allowed six runs, five of which were earned, on six hits and five walks while striking out four over six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey struggled with control and three of the batters he walked came around to score. As a result, he was in a 5-0 hole through the top of the second inning which led for his fifth loss of the season. He's now allowed 14 earned runs in his last 16.2 innings over three starts to raise his ERA from 2.78 to 3.50. He'll make his next start Sunday at the Pirates.

Lackey (7-4) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over 6.1 innings, but received no decision Thursday at the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey had a 3-0 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning, but he gave up runs in the sixth and seventh innings, and the bullpen was unable to hold onto the one-run lead after he left the contest. He's now held opponents to three or fewer runs in 11 of his last 12 starts, and he has a 3.27 ERA on the year. He'll make his next start Tuesday against the Reds.

Lackey (7-4) gave up seven hits, seven earned runs and three walks over 4.1 innings in Saturday's 9-6 loss to the Marlins. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran righty lost his way in the fifth, giving up an RBI double to Martin Prado and an RBI single to Giancarlo Stanton. The run-scoring hits were preceded by an infield single he yielded to Ichiro Suzuki and a free pass he issued to Christian Yelich. Lackey was also charged with the runs that came home courtesy of Justin Bour's RBI double and Derek Dietrich's sacrifice fly after he exited, making it his highest earned-run tally of the season. He's now dropped consecutive decisions, and will try to rebound against the Mets next Thursday.

Lackey (7-3) gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings in Monday's loss to the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey extended his quality start streak to eight despite the losing effort and now has 97 strikeouts in just 94 innings. He did give up two home runs, but he has allowed just nine all season, resulting in a fine 0.9 HR/9. After posting a 2.77 ERA last year, Lackey has picked up right where left off with a 2.78 ERA through 14 starts to open 2016.

Lackey allowed two runs on four hits and two walks and struck out seven over six innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey has thrown a quality start in every one of his starts since May, a streak he extended to nine outings with Tuesday's effort. He has more strikeouts than innings pitched in four of his last five starts and he now has 91 strikeouts in just 88 innings. If he can maintain this pace, it will be Lackey's first season with a K/9 of 9.0 or better in his 14-year major league career.

Lackey (7-2) tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, no walks and striking out eight in a 8-1 victory over the Phillies on Wednesday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old has thrown two straight scoreless outing, striking out 17 and walking just two in 13.2 innings. Dating back to his start on May 29, Lackey has allowed one run in the last 20.2 frames (0.45 ERA). The biggest surprise for Lackey through the first two months has been the number of strikeouts. He has 84 punchouts in 82 innings, which gives him a 9.1 K/9, by far the highest of his career. As impressive as that is, it's hard to see him continue to strikeout out nearly two more batters per nine innings than he has throughout the rest of his career. Lackey's next start will be Tuesday versus Washington.
