Lackey tossed 6.2 shutout innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out nine in a 6-0 win over Arizona on Friday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey (6-2) strung together six quality starts in May and he kicked June off with more of the same. This game was scoreless until the seventh when the Cubs pushed across one run before their bullpen collapsed in a five-run eighth. The Cubs have the best record in baseball, and have won 9-of-10, with their starting pitching being a huge factor.

Lackey (5-2) tossed seven innings Sunday, allowing one run on four hits and four walks while striking out six in a win over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The only run came on a solo shot by Tyler Goeddel. Lackey enjoyed a strong May, reeling off six quality starts in six trips to the mound with a 2.09 ERA and 40:11 K:BB in 43 innings, and he'll look to continue his run of success Friday at home against the Diamondbacks.

Lackey allowed three runs on four hits and a walk with nine strikeouts over seven innings in a no-decision Monday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey now has five quality starts in a row and seven in his last eight. Other than a Matt Adams two-run home run, he was excellent, as he needed just 87 pitches to get through seven innings against his former team and induced 10 swinging strikeouts in the process. Unfortunately, that blast cost Lackey the chance at the win. The home run ball has been his main weakness; he has allowed just 45 hits and 12 walks in 61.1 innings, but Adams's homer was the sixth Lackey has allowed in nine starts. Still, Lackey remains solidly above-average with a 3.38 ERA.

Lackey held the Brewers to one run on four hits over six innings Wednesday, but received no decision in an eventual 12-inning win. He struck out five and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
The numbers Lackey's putting up so far this season are startling for a 37-year-old who's had a lengthy, but ultimately mediocre career. He's never put up a WHIP under 1.16 and owns a lifetime mark of 1.31, but has a ridiculous 0.98 supporting his 3.31 ERA this year. Although the peripherals don't particularly undermine those ratios, with the amount of data we've got on Lackey, it's hard to imagine him not regressing to the mean.

Lackey (4-2) tossed eight spectacular innings against the Padres on Wednesday, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven, but was stuck with a hard-luck loss.
EDGE Analysis
He got the start in the back end of a doubleheader and watched his mates get shut down by opposing starter Drew Pomeranz and three relievers, ruining one of his finest outings on the season. It's been an up-and-down start for the veteran righty -- he's given up six runs twice, but only seven total earned runs in his other five outings, including two 11-strikeout performances. That said, Lackey's got a strong offense in front of him and has shown surprisingly improved bat-missing ability so far this year. At a spritely 37 years of age, he's sitting on the highest strikeout rate of his career at 8.75 K/9.

Lackey allowed two runs on six hits, walking one and striking out 11 over seven innings of an 8-6 win over Washington on Friday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Lackey (4-1) needed 111 pitches (75 for strikes) to cover the seven innings, but he settled in after a bit of a rough start, and his teammates turned on the offense. Lackey has been the picture of inconsistency so far this season, posting four solid starts while being torched for six runs in each of his other two. He'll try to build on this effort when he takes on the Padres at Wrigley Field next time out.

Lackey (3-1) came away with a no-decision Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and three walks over eight innings while striking out two in an extra-inning loss to the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
He was on the hook for the loss before Addison Russell's game-tying single in the ninth, but Hector Rondon then promptly handed the game back to the Braves in the top of the 10th. Lackey's 4.32 ERA on the season isn't great, but his 1.11 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB in 33.3 innings and five starts is a better reflection of his performance so far. He'll look to get back in the win column Friday, at home against Max Scherzer and the Nats.

Lackey will start Sunday against the Pirates, after his scheduled start Saturday was rained out, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs will push Lackey back a day, as expected, while taking the off day as an opportunity to push Kyle Hendricks back a series and pitch Jason Hammel, Jake Arrieta and Jon Lester against the division rival Pirates next week. Lackey will face Julio Teheran in Sunday's game, and remains a strong play in all formats.

Lackey (3-1) was lit up for seven hits, six earned runs and a walk over 5.2 innings in Saturday's 13-5 loss to the Reds. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
After mustering a perfect record through his first trio of starts in 2016, Lackey simply didn't have it Saturday. His six earned runs actually matched the total he'd given up in the opern against the Diamondbacks, with the difference being that this time it was the opposing offense who scored in the teens, in contast to when his teammates put up 14 runs on that date. Lackey gave up his first long ball since that appearance, and gave up 12 fly balls during his time on the mound. While his 3-1 record certainly appears respectable, his 4.97 ERA is indicative of the trouble he's run into in a pair of his starts to date.

Lackey (3-0) dominated in a win Monday over the Cardinals, as he struck out 11, walked just one and allowed four hits over seven shutout innings.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals had no answer for Lackey, who drew a ridiculous 23 swinging strikes on just 91 pitches (25.2 percent). He was able to stay efficient by throwing 19 first pitch strikes to 26 batters and had strong enough command to limit the Cardinals to just one extra-base hits, an Aledmys Diaz double. Lackey's ERA is down to 3.66 after his best start of the season thus far.
