Jaso is out of Friday's lineup against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
After a hot start to the season, Jaso hit .197 in June, and has just one home run in his last 172 plate appearances. If the Pirates were more confident in Josh Bell's ability to handle first base defensively, Jaso would likely already be out of the top spot on the depth chart. In the meantime, he'll still likely get four or five starts per week with Bell and Friday's starter, David Freese, also getting mixed in.

Jaso went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The promotion of Josh Bell, temporary though it might be, seems to have woken up Jaso's bat as he went 3-for-9 with two RBI over the Pirates' final series before the All-Star break. He'll need to keep hitting if he wants to keep Bell on the bench or in the minors, however.

Jaso will bat leadoff Thursday and play first base against the Cardinals. Root Sports Pittsburgh reports.
EDGE Analysis
The last month has not been kind to Jaso. He's hitting .200/.316/.292 in 76 plate appearances since June 9, though he's collected two hits in two of his last three starts. With prospect Josh Bell competing for a Triple Crown at Triple-A, it wouldn't be surprising to see Pittsburgh look to move Jaso at the deadline.

Jaso is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Jaso will get the night off in favor of David Freese with left-hander Jaime Garcia on the mound for the Cardinals. The 32-year-old is having a solid season for the Pirates, hitting .273/.354/.396 with four home runs and 23 RBI.

Jaso is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Jaso will head to the bench with the A's trotting out lefty Rich Hill, as is typical whenever the Pirates face a lefty starter. While Jaso is still hitting and getting on base at a useful clip against right-handers, his average has been rather empty from a fantasy standpoint, with the 32-year-old managing four homers and zero stolen bases in 237 at-bats. Prospect Josh Bell is batting .324/.409/.537 with 12 homers with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Jaso went 0-for-5 and has four hits in his last 34 at-bats since June 15.
EDGE Analysis
His slash line of .266/.345/.388 has dropped to its lowest level since early April. There was some thought that Pittsburgh might promote Josh Bell to serve as a DH for the 5-game swing through the American League, but that hasn't happened. Jaso, who signed a two-year, $8 million deal last winter, has surprised the team with his defense at first base. If the Pirates fall out of the playoff race, then he could become a trade piece or possibly lose playing time to Bell.

Jaso is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Jaso will be out of the lineup for the third time in the past four games, as David Freese will takeover at first base during Wednesday's game. With the Pirates facing southpaw Wade Miley, Jaso (1-for-14 on the year against left-handers) will spend another game on the bench.

Jaso will not start for the second straight day Sunday against the Dodgers, Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jaso simply can't stick against left-handed pitchers, collecting just one single in 14 at-bats against them this season. With Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw toeing the rubber Sunday, Pittsburgh will turn to David Freese at first base, batting second. With another southpaw (Scott Kazmir) set to take the mound Monday, Jaso will likely ride the pine once again.

Jaso is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
With southpaw Madison Bumgarner on the mound for the Giants, the Pirates will try to get as good of matchups as possible by loading up on right-handed hitters. This means that Jaso will get the night off while David Freese steps in to bat in the clean up spot. Jaso has only seen 12 at-bats against left-handed pitching all season, so it is likely that this platoon system continues throughout the season.

Jaso is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest with the Mets, Joshua Needelman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jason is getting his first maintenance day in eight games as the Pirates are going with David Freese as first base. The 32-year-old has smacked three doubles while slashing .300/.344/.400 over his last eight games.
