Peralta went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in Triple-A Memphis' 6-4 win over Albuquerque on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
It was the veteran's most encouraging rehab effort by far, as he'd gone just 2-for-8 with four strikeouts for High-A Palm Beach in three games last week. Peralta appears to be continuing to round back into form, and as per general manager John Mozeliak's comments last week, he's slated to both play the field and hit for a consecutive stretch of games for the Redbirds to gauge his stamina.

Peralta (illness) is back from his rehab assignment with High-A Palm Beach and will head to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday as the next step in his recovery, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The change in venue will come with a more "robust" regimen, according to general manager John Mozeliak. Peralta will be progressing to playing the field and hitting in the same game for multiple games with the Redbirds in order to gauge his stamina. The 34-year-old was just 2-for-8 with four strikeouts over his three games at Palm Beach, but he reportedly suffered no setbacks.

Peralta (illness) was hitless in three at-bats during an extended spring training game Monday but reports that he is feeling well, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran thus continues on track to return to the club this week, as he appears to be back at full strength following his battle with a bad reaction to medication he'd taken for an upper respiratory infection. Peralta's days as a starting third baseman appear to be over for the time being, however, as Jedd Gyorko, he of the .333 average and six home runs, currently has a stranglehold on the job.

The Cardinals have received encouraging reports about Peralta's at-bats with High-A Palm Beach during his rehab stint, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. "Feeling strong," manager Mike Matheny said. "I think that energy level is translating into quicker movements."
EDGE Analysis
Peralta is hitting just .250 with a pair of singles over eight at-bats across three rehab appearances over the weekend, but he's apparently looked good overall. The veteran is apparently almost back at full strength after an upper respiratory infection and subsequent adverse reaction to medication during April sapped him of a considerable amount of stamina. If he continues setback-free, Peralta could potentially join the Cardinals at some point during the three-game road set against the Marlins that begins Monday.

Peralta (illness) went hitless in two at-bats in High-A Palm Beach's 4-2 win over Lakeland on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Peralta started at third base and hit out of the three-hole as well, striking out in one of his two plate appearances. The 34-year-old is expected to log several games at the minor-league level before a decision is made regarding his return to the big-league squad.

Peralta (illness) will begin a rehab assignment Friday.
EDGE Analysis
After battling an upper respiratory for the last few weeks, Peralta is ready to get back on the field this weekend. He'll begin his rehab assignment at High-A Palm Beach, but the Cardinals have yet to announce how long Peralta will need before coming off the disabled list. It may be difficult for him to unseat Jedd Gyorko as the Cardinals' regular third baseman once he returns, however.

Peralta (illness) has begun taking grounders and hitting in the batting cage as part of his recovery from an adverse reaction to medication, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peralta could be heading back to Florida for some extended spring training or minor-league rehab starts by the end of the coming week if all continues to go well. The veteran infielder suffered a significant scare after medication he was taking for an upper respiratory infection left him weak and lethargic. Those symptoms were largely responsible for Peralta's early-season struggles, which include nine strikeouts in his first 25 at-bats and sluggishness while playing at third base as well. Jedd Gyorko has taken over the starting duties at the hot corner in Peralta's absence and thrived, slashing .321/.397/.643 over 63 plate appearances.

Peralta (illness) could be out another week or so as he recovers from the taxing medication, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
General manager John Mozeliak said the medication Peralta is taking needs 10 to 14 days to leave the body and serves as a prerequisite to returning to baseball activities. "The biggest thing for him is getting his energy and his strength back," said the GM, "The medication he took didn't sit well, so he's seeing side effects." Peralta will continue to build up strength within the next few days and should return to a reserve infield role upon his return to action.

Peralta was placed on the disabled list with an upper respiratory illness, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peralta had seen a significant drop in playing time as of late and slid down the Cardinals' depth chart, so placing him on the DL will leave the club with one less reserve option. There's no word as to when Peralta will return, but look for him to continue his role as a backup when the time comes.

Peralta is now fourth on the depth chart at third base, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold reports.
EDGE Analysis
Jedd Gyorko is the starter going forward at the hot corner, and Greg Garcia and Matt Carpenter are also preferred options over Peralta at third base, according to Goold. He has a .120 average with zero extra-base hits and a 9:2 K:BB in 27 plate appearances. The veteran could certainly find his way to more playing time as the season progresses, but for now he will be lucky to receive one or two starts per week.
