Peralta is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, Jim Hayes of FOX Sports Midwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
The day off will end Peralta's streak of 14 straight starts at third base, but it's likely just for maintenance purposes with the Cardinals set to play their third consecutive day game on Labor Day. Greg Garcia will spell Peralta at the hot corner Sunday.

Peralta went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in Sunday's rout of the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Although he hasn't driven in a run in eight games Peralta is otherwise red-hot at the plate, slashing .322/.355/.458 in 59 August at-bats with a home run, four RBI and 12 runs scored.

Peralta went 3-for-4 in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran shortstop is finally starting to flourish at the plate in his first stretch of extended playing time during what has been an injury-marred campaign. Peralta has hits in three straight and multi-hit efforts in four games to date in August. His .296/.333/.426 line in the current month appears to be indicative of a potential offensive awakening and has helped bring his season average 29 points since Aug. 1.

Peralta is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals will go with a lefty-heavy lineup Wednesday against righty Doug Fister. Greg Garcia will get the start at shortstop and hit ninth as Peralta gets his third day off in the last 15 games. Peralta's counting stats are way down because he missed a little under three months due to injuries. His .411 slugging percentage is right in line with what he did last year, and his .263 BABIP (.311 career mark) suggests he hasn't been as bad as his .234 average suggests. Additionally, his 31.5 percent hard-hit rate is actually better than his 30.9 percent career rate, so he could finish the year on a high note if his batted ball luck normalizes.

Peralta is not in the Cardinals starting lineup on Friday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This looks to be just a regular day off for Peralta, who is hitting .278 over his past 10 games. Greg Garcia will get the start at shortstop for St. Louis on Friday. Peralta should be back in the lineup as the Cardinals take on Kyle Hendricks and the Cubs on Saturday.

Peralta was a late add to the Cardinals' lineup Wednesday, sliding in as the third baseman and batting fifth, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Matt Adams getting scratched with an undisclosed ailment, Matt Carpenter will start at first base and Peralta will take over at the hot corner. It was going to be just a regular day off for Peralta, and he will continue to be in the lineup almost every day going forward.

Peralta is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals are going with a lefty-heavy lineup against righty Anthony DeSclafani on Wednesday, meaning Greg Garcia gets the start at shortstop. Peralta has been raking of late, with eight hits across a five-game hitting streak. With Aledmys Diaz (thumb) out indefinitely, Peralta should see pretty regular playing time over the rest of the season.

The Cardinals have activated Pertala from the disabled list on Tuesday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peralta was placed on the DL July 19 with a thumb injury. He will return to the Cardinals and most likely take over shortstop duties as Aledmys Diaz was placed on the DL in a separate move. Before getting hurt, Peralta was hitting .221 with five home runs in 113 at-bats.

Peralta (thumb) will take over as the regular shortstop when he returns from the DL on Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Aledmys Diaz heading to the disabled list with a thumb fracture, Peralta will have an opportunity to return to his old position after switching to third base this season. The veteran has a lowly .258 OBP in just 30 games, but will certainly see opportunities to improve that as he returns to the starting lineup.

Peralta (thumb) could return Tuesday for the Cardinals' series opener against the Reds, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Peralta has been dealing with thumb injuries for much of the season and has only played in just 30 games thus far, hitting .221/.258/.416 in that time. Jedd Gyorko and Greg Garcia will continue sharing time at third base during Peralta's absence.
