Jason Marquis allowed three runs -- one earned -- in 7 1/3 innings and struck out eight Wednesday in a victory over the Giants. Marquis may have beaten a good team, but it sure was an ugly lineup he got to face; with Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval absent, Angel Pagan was hitting cleanup and Brandon Crawford was batting fifth. Marquis has now won three straight starts, giving him a 4-5 record and a 3.48 ERA for the Padres.

Jason Marquis turned in a strong outing in Sunday's victory over the Dodgers, allowing just two runs on six hits over his six innings of work. Marquis walked three and punched out two in the game. After allowing an RBI single to Andre Ethier in the first inning, Marquis stepped up his game and shut the Dodgers down until a Jerry Hairston RBI single in the sixth. It was his first quality start in his last four outings, and remains a borderline fantasy option while pitching at home. He'll look to duplicate this strong effort when he takes on the Rockies at home on Friday.

Jason Marquis allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings of Sunday's loss to the Reds. Marquis struck out five, walked none and allowed two home runs in falling to 3-9 on the season, and 1-5 as a Padre. Today was the first time in four outings Marquis allowed fewer than four runs. Even in San Diego, he's off the radar in 12-14 team mixed leagues.

Jason Marquis will take the hill for the Padres on Sunday on three days rest, filling the spot of the injured Andrew Cashner. Marquis pitched 6 1/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Thursday, but deemed himself ready to go for the final assignment before the All-Star break. There is no telling what the Padres will do with their final rotation spot after the break, but Ross Ohlendorf appears to be a strong candidate to fill the void.

Jason Marquis allowed four runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings of Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Diamondbacks. Facing one of his many former teams, Marquis struck out seven, walked one and served up a three-run homer to Jason Kubel. Through six starts and 38 2/3 innings in a Padres uniform, Marquis has posted a 3.49 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 39/13 K/BB ratio.

Jason Marquis struck out 10 on Monday, but he still took a loss after giving up two runs in seven innings against the Rangers. The Twins have to be wondering where the heck this was a month ago. Marquis had 12 strikeouts in seven starts for Minnesota. He now has 20 in three starts for San Diego. It was Marquis' first 10-strikeout game since Aug. 3, 2001, when he fanned 13 Brewers.

Jason Marquis was quality for the second straight start in a Padres uniform Wednesday, scattering just six hits across 6 1/3 shutout innings in San Diego's 1-0 win in Seattle. He walked four and struck out four. Not exactly Matt Cain-esque, but Marquis is quickly establishing himself as a worthy NL-only league flier coming off his disastrous stint in Minnesota. He'll get the Astros in Houston next Tuesday.

Jason Marquis will join the Padres' rotation to start Thursday against the Giants. Everybody else in the rotation will be pushed back a day. Marquis was dumped by the Twins last month after posting a miserable 8.47 ERA in seven starts. PETCO should help, but we're not optimistic about him in NL-only leagues.

Jason Marquis tossed seven innings of one-run ball in his first start for Double-A San Antonio Thursday. He allowed five hits, two walks, struck out five and got 10 groundball outs. Marquis, who was signed by the Padres Tuesday, shouldn't be in the minors long.

Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that the Dodgers "don't appear interested" in free agent right-hander Jason Marquis. Marquis was officially released by the Twins on Monday after posting an 8.47 ERA over his first seven starts this year. The Dodgers hope Ted Lilly (shoulder) will only miss two or three starts and are content with Nathan Eovaldi taking his place in the starting rotation. The club has been linked to free agent right-hander Roy Oswalt, but Marquis obviously doesn't possess the same upside.
