Bailey was cut loose by the Dodgers on Friday as a condition of waiving his no-trade right, Eric Stephen of True Blue LA reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Bailey was granted his release after coming over to Los Angeles in a seven-player deal earlier in the day. He will hit the open market and look for a new home following 15 years in Cincinnati's organization. The right-hander has only started 46 games the past four years due to various injuries, and when he's been able to throw, he's been one of the least-effective pitchers in the league.

The Reds traded Bailey, Jeter Downs and Josiah Gray to the Dodgers on Friday in exchange for Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood and Matt Kemp, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports. Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers are expected to release Bailey after the trade becomes official.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey is due $28 million in 2019 ($23 million in salary and another $5 for his buyout) and will be cut loose and able to sign elsewhere following a few dreadful years with Cincinnati. His numbers this past year were especially bad as Bailey posted a 6.09 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 6.3 K/9. Once he hits the free-agent market, the 32-year-old will look to join a club where he can compete for a spot in the back-end of its rotation, though he will certainly have to show signs of improvement in order to earn starts once every five days.

Bailey is unlikely to pitch out of the bullpen despite being bumped from the rotation Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey's 6.09 ERA saw him deservedly lose his job as a starter, but if the Reds don't plan on using him as a reliever then it appears they don't plan on using him at all. He reportedly remains an option to start if needed later in the month, but with expanded September rosters and several former starters in the bullpen, it's difficult to envision such a need arising.

Bailey has lost his rotation spot to Tyler Mahle, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey's 6.09 ERA certainly doesn't make a good case for him returning to the rotation, and he hasn't posted an ERA below 5.50 since back in 2014 while battling multiple arm injuries. With the Reds nowhere near the playoff race, there's little reason to give innings to a struggling 32-year-old, so the 23-year-old Mahle will get the opportunities instead.

Bailey (1-12) threw five innings in a losing effort Sunday, yielding six runs (three earned) on eight hits in the 9-0 loss to the Cubs. He struck out two batters and allowed a home run.
EDGE Analysis
Things got out of hand early on for the Reds in this one, as Bailey coughed up three runs in the first inning. David Bote later took him deep with a two-run shot. Since he returned from the disabled list in late July, the 32-year-old has lowered his season ERA from 6.68 to 6.17 with an 0-5 record. Things won't get any easier for Bailey with his next outing coming against the red-hot Cardinals on Saturday.

Bailey (1-11) allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk across six innings while taking the loss Monday against the Brewers. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey pitched well through the early innings and was spotted a two-run lead, but he allowed a solo home run to Christian Yelich in the fifth and a two-run shot to Travis Shaw in the sixth to fall behind on the scoreboard. The home team added a couple of runs late to ensure the veteran took his 11th loss. Bailey's quality start was a positive sight to see after he'd allowed 10 earned runs across 8.2 innings in his previous two outings, but his ERA still sits at a putrid 6.21 on the season, to go along with a 1.62 WHIP. He'll look to build on this improved effort in his next scheduled start this weekend against the Cubs.

Bailey (1-9) allowed five runs on 11 hits while striking out two across 3.1 innings Monday as he took the loss against New York.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey gave up three runs in the first inning, followed by two more in the fourth before being yanked with 71 pitches. Despite tossing back-to-back quality outings heading into Monday's outing (four runs over 14.2 innings), Bailey has struggled through 15 starts in 2018. He owns a 6.19 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with 54 strikeouts across 80 frames.

Bailey (knee) tossed 6.2 innings of two-run ball in a no-decision Tuesday against the Cardinals, allowing five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Activated from the disabled list earlier in the day, Bailey was sharp in his return. He delivered his first quality start since April 15 while recording a season high in strikeouts. The veteran actually carried a shutout into the seventh inning before allowing a two-run home run to Eugenio Suarez which led to his removal. While this was a tremendous outing for Bailey, he'll still carry an unsightly 6.29 ERA into his next scheduled start and remains a risky fantasy play even in seemingly friendly matchups.

Bailey (knee) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday ahead of his scheduled start against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey hasn't pitched since the end of May while dealing with knee inflammation. He had an ugly 6.68 ERA in 12 starts prior to the injury and hasn't finished with an ERA below 5.50 since 2014 (though injuries have limited him to a total of 38 starts in that time frame). Jackson Stephens (knee) was placed on the DL in a corresponding move.

Bailey (knee) will return from the disabled list and start Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, John Fay of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bailey was placed on the disabled list with knee inflammation in early June -- shortly after showing reluctance on shifting to a role in the bullpen -- but is now slated to rejoin the Reds' starting rotation Tuesday. The veteran right-hander had a 6.68 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 38:24 K:BB in 12 starts for Cincinnati prior to landing on the disabled list.
