Salas struck out two and allowed one hit in 1.2 innings against the Mariners on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Salas has pitched 10.1 innings this year, posting a 3.48 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP with a total of nine strikeouts. Besides a rough debut to the season, he has only allowed two runs in the previous 9.1 innings, partially due to an extremely low .167 BABIP. Salas earned career-bests in strikeout and walk rates in 2015, but has regressed throughout the early portion of this season. He will especially need to improve upon his 15.4 percent HR/FB rate, which he saw jump to a career-worst 10.8 percent last season.

Salas and the Angels agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million contract Thursday to avoid arbitration, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Salas's deal proves the value of strikeouts, as he has been thoroughly mediocre for the past four years (4.05 ERA in 221 games, three out of four seasons with an ERA of 4.00 or worse). Still, Salas has 217 strikeouts with 209 innings over that span, and that's worth enough to keep him getting paid.

Salas allowed one run on two hits while striking out two in a loss to the A's on Monday. Salas has struggled early in 2015, allowing four runs in six appearances, but he has walked just one batter while striking out six over that span. Salas has been relegated to a mop-up role of late, as he has yet to enter a game in 2015 where the Angels have been ahead, with five of six outings coming when the team was trailing by three or more runs.

Salas and the Angels avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.37 million deal Friday, Los Angeles Times writer Dylan Hernandez reports. Brought over from St. Louis as part of the David Freese trade from last year, Salas had a fine season in the Angels' bullpen, allowing 50 hits while posting 61 strikeouts and a 3.38 ERA in just under 59 innings. He should again establish a presence in the middle innings for the Angels in 2015.

Salas pitched a clean inning with a strikeout to tally a win against the A's on Thursday. Salas took over for Houston Street in the tenth inning Thursday, and was able to pick up the victory after a Howie Kendrick sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame ended the contest. Salas seems to be in the right place at the right time this season, as he is a perfect 5-0 with a 2.23 ERA in 48.1 innings.

Angels activated RHP Fernando Salas from the 15-day disabled list. Salas has been out with a sore shoulder but got clearance to return after getting through one rehab appearance with no issues. Michael Roth was sent down in a corresponding move.

Fernando Salas (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Class-A Inland Empire. It is expected to be a very brief assignment for the veteran right-hander, who could return to the Angels bullpen before the end of the weekend. He has been sidelined since June 15 with inflammation in his right shoulder.

Fernando Salas (shoulder) could go on a short rehab assignment. The Angels were hoping to activate him Thursday, but he had a bullpen session before the game that manager Mike Scioscia deemed "not quite as crisp" as hit others. "But he's close," Scioscia cautioned. "Nothing major."

Fernando Salas (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Sunday. Salas was able to throw all of his pitches and didn't have any issues. He'll throw another bullpen session Tuesday and should be allowed to face hitters after that. Salas should be ready to rejoin the Angels' bullpen pretty soon.
