Eric Chavez's agent, Scott Leventhal, said his client has "no ientention" of retiring. "Chavy has no intention of retiring," Leventhal said. "We have spoken to and met with multiple clubs regarding his future in baseball." The Yankees are in the market for someone that can offer insurance for Alex Rodriguez at third base, though it's not clear how interested they are in bringing Chavez back. He batted .281/.348/.496 with 16 home runs for them in 2012.

Eric Chavez is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Rangers. Casey McGehee is making the start at third base against the left-hander Derek Holland. The Yankees appear content to use a platoon, but the hot-hitting Chavez should still get most of the playing time and is worth considering if you need to fill a corner infielder (CI) spot.

Eric Chavez went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI and walk in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. Chavez has now reached base at least twice in eight of his nine August starts, upping his slash from an already solid .265/.330/.471 to .303/.362/.547. He's worth a temporary own in 10-12 team mixed leagues if you're hurting for corner-infield help.

Eric Chavez (back) is in the Yankees' lineup Monday. Chavez has been out for the Yankees' past three games because of discomfort in his lower back. The 34-year-old will continue serving as the Bombers' regular third baseman until Alex Rodriguez (hand) returns.

Eric Chavez continued to swing a hot bat in Tuesday's loss to the Tigers, going 2-for-4 with a homer, two runs scored and two RBI. The 34-year-old third baseman is doing a nice job picking up the slack in the absence of Alex Rodriguez. He's now hitting .280 with 11 homers and 26 RBI in 186 at-bats, including three bombs in his last six starts. In deeper leagues, he's worthy of a look as a corner infield option until A-Rod is able to return.

X-rays on Eric Chavez's right leg came back negative. Chavez left Friday's game against the Red Sox after being hit in the right shin by a pitch. He had his leg wrapped in the clubhouse after the game, but remarked that it looked worse than it felt. It sounds like a day-to-day situation.

The Yankees plan to stick with a platoon of Eric Chavez and Jayson Nix at third base while Alex Rodriguez (hand) is sidelined. "If anything makes sense in our work, we'll take a second look at it," general manager Brian Cashman said. "But I don't think we have to do anything." Chavez has a solid .266/.328/.468 batting line with eight homers this season, so having him on the long side of a platoon could be worse. Both he and Nix are worth owning in AL-only leagues.

Eric Chavez had a two-run double and an RBI single against the Indians on Wednesday. Chavez isn't getting a lot of action, but he's hitting very well when the opportunity presents itself. He's 5-for-10 with two homers since June 20, and he's batting .277/.331/.482 overall.

Eric Chavez went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored in Sunday's loss to the Mariners. Chavez is now 3-for-7 since coming off the seven-day disabled list. Aside from his recent concussion, Chavez is as healthy as he's been in years, and is worth consideration in deeper mixed leagues as a bench bat you can start against right-handed pitching.

Eric Chavez (concussion) has not been cleared by Major League Baseball to return yet. Chavez thinks he's back to normal, but evidently he didn't pass concussion test administered by MLB Wednesday. It's not clear when he'll take another one, but he won't be allowed to return before he passes it.
