Eric Chavez went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's blowout win against the Cubs. Chavez said Saturday that his right hip stiffness is feeling better, and he showed it in legging out his second three-bagger of the season. Prior to this evening, the veteran third baseman hadn't started a game since July 8 due to the ailment. Chavez has been a productive fantasy provider when healthy, batting .303 with seven homers and 32 RBI over 152 at-bats.

Eric Chavez said Saturday that his right hip stiffness is feeling much better. Chavez hasn't started a game since July 8 due to the ailment, but it sounds like he'll be back in the lineup soon. "I feel about as close to 100 percent as I'm going to feel," he said.

Eric Chavez drew a bases-loaded walk as a pinch-hitter in his return to action Saturday. Chavez hadn't played since Monday due to right hip stiffness. It's not clear if he'll be available to start Sunday, but he should be ready to roll after the All-Star break.

Eric Chavez was scratched from the Diamondbacks' lineup with right hip stiffness. It doesn't appear to be a major concern, but with Chavez, you never know. The D'Backs moved Martin Prado to third base, while Jason Kubel entered the lineup in left field.

Diamondbacks activated INF Eric Chavez from the 15-day disabled list. Eric Hinske was designated for assignment in order to clear a spot on the active roster. Chavez has been sidelined since May 30 with a strained right oblique and returns to a .325/.368/.588 batting line in 38 games this season. He should be an active member of Kirk Gibson's bench.

Eric Chavez (oblique) will be activated from the disabled list Friday. Chavez, out since May 30 with a strained right oblique, went 2-for-8 with two walks in three rehab games with Triple-A Reno. No word yet on what the corresponding roster move, but the Diamondbacks are considering placing Willie Bloomquist (hand) on the disabled list.

Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said it "might be a stretch" for Eric Chavez (oblique) to be ready for activation over the weekend. Chavez is slated to play in his fourth rehab game at Triple-A Reno on Friday. The D'Backs might have to play Willie Bloomquist (hand) on the DL, but it sounds like Chavez probably wouldn't be the guy to replace him on the roster. He should be back soon, though.

Eric Chavez (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as next week. "Everything has been good -- hitting, running, throwing," Chavez said. "I didn't know really what to expect, but [it's] gone really good." Chavez has already missed three weeks of action and doesn't figure to be activated until the tail end of June, at the earliest.

Eric Chavez (oblique) will start swinging a bat on Saturday. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Chavez has been "getting much better" of late. Out since late May, he seems likely to require a brief rehab assignment before returning, which should come later this month.

Diamondbacks placed 3B Eric Chavez on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Chavez suffered the injury during Thursday's game. Oblique strains usually keep players out at least three weeks, and, given Chavez's injury history, it's possible he'll be sidelined longer than that.
