Mujica was removed in the fifth inning of Sunday's game with an apparent leg injury, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mujica recorded one out in the inning before exiting, and was replaced by Arnold Leon. The severity of the issue remains unclear, but the team should provide an update at some point.

In his first appearance off the DL, Mujica took the loss, allowing three runs (only one earned) in 0.1 innings. Mujica entered the game with the bases loaded and a four run lead and proceeded to give up a laser to Mike Trout that was dropped by Ben Zobrist followed by a grand slam to Albert Pujols. It was a tough spot for Mujica to be dropped into in his return from the DL, but he definitely did not fool either of the future Hall of Famers.

Mujica (hand) was reinstated from the DL on Friday. He missed about a month after fracturing his thumb and should be available for this weekend's series against the Angels. Look for him to resume pitching in mid-leverage situations for the A's going forward.

Mujica (hand) will make another rehab appearance Thursday at High-A Stockton, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Mujica is slated to make at least one more rehab appearance before being activated from the disabled list, but it's no sure thing that Thursday will be his final outing at Stockton. His status should become more clear after Thursday's outing.

Mujica (hand) will make one more rehab appearance before returning to the A's, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. Mujica felt good after making a rehab appearance at High-A Stockton on Monday, and he'll make one more appearance before being activated from the disabled list. It's unclear when, exactly, that will be, but it seems likely Mujica could be back with the A's before the end of the week.

Mujica (hand) will follow up his bullpen Thursday with another bullpen session Saturday, followed by a potential rehab assignment Monday with High-A Stocton, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Assuming Mujica's bullpen session Thursday goes off without a hitch, it sounds like just one more will be required before he heads out on a rehab and potentially rejoins the bullpen thereafter. If all goes well, a mid-to-late June return seems plausible, when he'll likely take a role in middle or late relief situations.

Mujica (hand) will throw a bullpen session Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. If Mujica makes it through his first official bullpen session successfully, the Athletics will send him on a rehab assignment as early as this weekend. He was initially not scheduled to throw off a mound until the weekend, so it appears this timeline is a bit ahead of schedule. A late-June return to the Oakland bullpen seems to be the most plausible scenario at this point.

Mujica could begin throwing off a mound by this weekend, Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area reports. Mujica has started throwing on flat ground after getting stitches removed from his thumb last week. Once Mujica progresses to bullpen sessions and live batting practices, a return to the A's bullpen should be on the horizon.

Mujica will have the stitches in his fractured hand removed within the next few days, Joe Stiglich of CSNBayArea.com reports. Mujica isn't expected to resume throwing for another week after the stitches come out, which will prevent him from returning from the DL immediately when eligible June 6. However, it doesn't sound like his recovery timeline will be delayed enough to necessitate a rehab assignment. Mujica will probably only need to toss a couple bullpen sessions and live batting practice before receiving clearance to return to the bullpen.

Mujica (hand) was officially placed on the 15-day DL Friday. It was announced Thursday that the move was forthcoming and now it is official. He required stitches in his thumb after suffering a fracture on a comebacker Thursday and will be out at least until mid-June.
