Fister was added to the ALDS roster, and will likely be in line for a start once the series returns to Boston on Sunday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Chris Sale and Drew Pomeranz already confirmed as the starters for the first two games of the series, respectively, it's assumed that Fister will take the mound for Game 3 on Sunday, or Game 4 on Monday, if it's necessary. The right-hander was not going to be added to the roster as a reliever, which means Eduardo Rodriguez will likely come out of the bullpen as a left-handed specialist. Over the course of the 2017 season, Fister compiled a 4.88 ERA and 1.38 WHIP during 90.1 innings.

Fister (5-9) was handed the loss Friday against the Astros after allowing three runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings of work. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander didn't pitch poorly by any means, as 53 of his 74 offerings went for strikes, but the Red Sox offense ultimately went down quietly and was unable to give him the run support he needed to win. With his final start of the season in the books, Fister will finish with a career-worst 4.88 ERA in 15 starts and three relief appearances, although his strikeout rate jumped all the way up to 8.3 strikeouts per nine, easily a personal best. It'll be tough for him to grab a spot in the postseason rotation or command much in free agency with a shaky pitching line like that.

Fister allowed three runs on nine hits with no walks in a no-decision Sunday against the Reds. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
Fister allowed an RBI double to Scooter Gennett in the first inning before coasting into the fifth. He faltered a bit in that frame, allowing two runs on three hits to erase his chances of picking up the victory on the afternoon. Fister still came through with an improved performance after two miserable outings, throwing 68 percent of his pitches for strikes while tying his season high in punchouts. Far from a lock to make the postseason rotation, the veteran will make his final claim Friday against the Astros.

Fister allowed five runs on five hits and five walks across two innings in a no-decision Monday against the Orioles. He did not record a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Fister endured a miserable outing, throwing just half of his pitches for strikes while achieving a new season high in free passes. He was brought back out for the third inning after allowing three runs in the second, but was pulled after loading the bases with nobody out. Fister enjoyed a nice run of form into the month of September, but he has since allowed 11 earned runs over six innings across his last two starts. The veteran is scheduled to take the mound Sunday against the Reds.

Fister (5-7) limited the Blue Jays to one run on four hits and three walks while whiffing nine over seven innings en route to a 6-1 win Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
His last four starts have been incredible, as Fister's pitched 30 innings while allowing just five runs in that span, good for a 1.50 ERA; his WHIP has been similarly impressive at 0.73, and he's even striking guys out at an uncharacteristically high rate. Fister's been a waiver-wire diamond at this late juncture of the season, and with steady pitching hard to come by, he should find himself locked into plenty of fantasy rosters as long as this productive stretch continues. Thanks to a couple off days on the schedule, the veteran may not take the mound again until next Wednesday against Oakland.

Fister (4-7) picked up the win over the Yankees on Friday, allowing one run on four hits and a walk over seven innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
After serving up back-to-back doubles to Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge to begin the game, the veteran righty settled into a groove and didn't allow another Yankee to even reach second base. Fister's now provided quality starts in five of his last six outings, posting a 3.05 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB in 41.1 innings over that stretch. He'll look to keep things rolling Wednesday at home against the Blue Jays.

Fister (3-7) struck out seven batters and gave up two runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
After giving up two runs in the first frame, Fister was able to recover and kept Baltimore's offense in check for the remainder of his outing. While he was ultimately tagged with the loss, this was the second consecutive quality start for Fister, as he was coming off a complete-game one-hitter victory over the Indians. Although he's looked like a solid starter recently, Fister's poor control (4.27 BB/9) and subpar ability to strike out the opposition (7.52 K/9) limits his fantasy value. He'll make his next start Friday against the Yankees.

Fister (3-6) pitched a complete-game one-hitter against the Indians on Tuesday, allowing just a solo home run and two walks with six strikeouts in a 9-1 win.
EDGE Analysis
After Francisco Lindor homered to lead off the bottom of the first, Fister proceeded to throw a no-hitter for the rest of the game. Thanks to the vagaries of the schedule, Fister has faced the Indians three times in his last four starts -- first a strong 7.2-inning victory July 31, then an ugly five-run outing Aug. 14, and now this redemptive effort, which marks his first complete game since the 2014 season. The veteran has generally been either great or terrible (but mostly terrible) for the Red Sox this year, and while this was an inspiring outing, it's still hard to trust him except in deeper formats.

Fister (2-6) allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks across 4.1 innings in Monday's loss to the Indians. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Fister allowed three runs on three hits and three walks in the second inning before yielding a two-run home run to Edwin Encarnacion in the fifth. He threw just 55 percent of his pitches for strikes as he tied his season high in walks. Fister, who was coming off a pair of quality starts ahead of Monday's struggles, saw his ERA rise back to 5.56 after this rocky showing. He will look to get back on track Sunday against the Yankees.

Fister (2-5) allowed three runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters through 6.1 innings during Sunday's win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Fister also spun a solid outing against Cleveland in his previous start, so the veteran might be gaining some fantasy traction. The Boston offense should continue to provide sufficient run support, so Fister is in position to help in the wins column as long as he remains in the rotation. Still, with a 5.03 ERA and 1.55 WHIP for the campaign, his value is limited. Additionally, once David Price (elbow) returns from the disabled list, Fister's fantasy value will likely vanish in the majority of settings. Fister lines up for a difficult road start against the Yankees, too.
