Holland was informed Friday that he'd made the Tigers' Opening Day roster, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Holland is merely in camp as a non-roster invitee, so the Tigers will have to find room for him on the 40-man roster before he officially joins the team. The 34-year-old is a bit of an odd fit for a rebuilding club, as he's recorded an ERA north of 6.00 in three of the last four years, but he's had an excellent spring, striking out 13 while walking just one in eight scoreless innings.

Holland has tossed eight scoreless innings this spring with 13 strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Holland is competing for a bullpen spot with the Tigers and has made a strong case so far. The veteran lefty posted an ERA above 6.00 in each of the last two seasons, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect great results, but Holland could work his way into a middle relief role.

Holland has looked good in camp so far and could earn a bullpen role with the Tigers, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Beck projects Holland to be among eight Detroit relievers when the team breaks camp, but the lefty's role is far from certain after struggling most of the last two seasons. He has tossed three scoreless innings so far in spring training with four strikeouts, and he'll likely need to remain sharp to make the club.

Holland signed a minor-league deal with the Tigers on Saturday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander spent 2020 with the Pirates and struggled as both a reliever and a starter with an overall 6.86 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. Holland figures to need a strong spring training to have a chance of making Detroit's Opening Day roster.

Holland pitched out of the bullpen in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Cubs, working five innings while giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Holland had been lined up to start Wednesday heading into the week, but he ended up shifting to the bullpen after the Pirates brought back staff ace Joe Musgrove (triceps) from the injured list. Making his first start since Aug. 4, Musgrove was pulled after three frames (46 pitches), resulting in manager Derek Shelton calling on Holland to eat some innings. Though Holland wasn't particularly effective during his time on the mound, he at least saved the Pirates' bullpen heading into Thursday's series finale. The Pirates will temporarily require a sixth member of the rotation during Friday's doubleheader, but Holland's 83-pitch relief appearance Wednesday will take him out of the mix for the nod. Instead, Cody Ponce looks like the most likely candidate to make a spot start.

Holland (1-2) gave up eight runs on six hits and four runs while striking out eight over five innings in a loss to the Brewers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Three of the hits Holland allowed left the yard, as Jedd Gyorko, Ryan Braun and Jacob Nottingham all took him deep. The 33-year-old Holland saw his ERA inflate to 7.62 with a 1.52 WHIP and 31 strikeouts in 28.1 innings this season. He's allowed 10 homers across six appearances -- Holland will need to keep the ball in the yard to find success in his next start, currently set for Wednesday versus the Cubs.

Holland (1-1) earned the win Saturday against the Brewers after allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw wasn't overly sharp as he delivered only 54 of his 99 pitches for strikes, but he generated 12 swinging strikes and was able to limit Milwaukee to a solo homer from Jedd Gyorko. Holland has a 6.17 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB across 23.1 innings and lines up to pitch during Thursday's doubleheader in St. Louis.

Holland (0-1) was charged with the loss Saturday against the Tigers after surrendering nine runs on 13 hits over five innings. He had six strikeouts and one walk.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old gave up only one homer through his first two starts, but Detroit went deep off him a whopping five times during Saturday's contest, including four times in his first 12 pitches. The ugly outing leaves him with an 8.27 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 16.2 innings. Holland will look for a rebound performance Thursday at Cincinnati.

Holland didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Twins, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw cruised through five scoreless innings before suddenly hitting the wall in the sixth, with Max Kepler's two-run double finally chasing Holland from the game. He tossed 86 pitches (54 strikes) in the outing, and the 33-year-old has been able to give the Bucs some length in the rotation if nothing else. Holland will be an intriguing streaming option in his next outing, scheduled for Saturday at home against the Tigers.

Holland allowed two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings against the Brewers on Tuesday. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Holland showed erratic control, also hitting a batter and advancing a runner on a wild pitch. On the other hand, he generated 15 called strikes and 11 swinging strikes on 90 total pitches, showcasing some deceptiveness. It was a fairly strong debut with the Pirates for Holland, though he'll draw a tough matchup in his next start on Monday at the Twins.
