Johnson's teammate, Alberto Callaspo, is expected to see time at third base during spring training, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. It was generally assumed that Callaspo was brought in to fill the team's hole at second base, but it's now sounding like he could work himself into some sort of timeshare at the hot corner with Johnson. The 30-year-old Johnson posted a dismal .231/.256/.314 batting line against right-handed pitching last season, though the switch-hitting Callapso wasn't much better at .238/.303/.313. Callaspo may still see some time at the keystone, but the possibility of him playing at third base hurts what marginal appeal Johnson had in NL-only formats.

Johnson was 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in the Braves' win over Philadelphia on Friday night. While his average has dropped off considerably compared to his huge season in 2013 (.265 as opposed to .321), he now has 10 home runs and 58 RBI which aren't that far off his career year.

Johnson (back) is back in the lineup Friday against the Phillies. Johnson exited Wednesday's game with a lower-back strain, and missed Thursday's contest due to the injury. He expected to be back Friday, and it appears that is the case as he will man the hot corner and bat seventh for the Braves.

Johnson (back) hopes he will be able to play in Thursday's game, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. Johnson was removed from Wednesday's game with a strained back, but it does not appear the injury is overly serious. Johnson's status for Thursday's game will be confirmed when the Braves release their starting lineup prior to the contest.

Johnson left Wednesday's game with lower-back strain, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Johnson doubled to left in the bottom of the fourth inning, his second double of the game, but was replaced at third by Phil Gosselin to begin the sixth. The team lists Johnson as just day-to-day, but it seems like something that could at least limit Johnson a bit over the final four games of the season.

Johnson is not in the lineup Sunday for the second straight day. Johnson is really struggling with the bat in September, so manager Fredi Gonzalez decided to hold him out consecutive games to give him mental break. Phil Gosselin will man the hot corner for the Braves in Johnson's place.
