Johnson is out of the lineup Saturday against the Marlins, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Johnson is hitless in 12 career at-bats against right-hander Nathan Eovaldi, Saturday's starter for Miami, so manager Fredi Gonzalez will turn to Phil Gosselin to man third base for the fourth time this season. While Johnson is also 0-for-11 to begin September, he should continue playing on a near-everyday basis, after the Braves signed him to a three-year extension back in May.

Johnson is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Mets. Johnson had started 24 straight games for the Braves, so manager Fredi Gonzalez will grant him a day off in attempt to keep his batteries charged for the season's final month. Phil Gosselin will fill in for him at third base.

Johnson went 2-for-5 with one RBI and one run scored Monday against the Pirates. Johnson is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and also has at least one RBI in each of his last three games. He doesn't provide a lot of power as he only has nine home runs this season, but he is hitting a solid .277.

Chris Johnson hit a two-run double and scored a run in Sunday's win over the Padres. Johnson knocked a bases-loaded double in the third inning, and he scored the Braves' sixth run later in the inning. The two runs driven in were the continuation of a strong month for the third baseman, who now has 22 RBI in July after driving in 24 in the first three months of the season combined. Johnson is hitting .273/.295/.385 with eight home runs and 46 RBI overall.

Chris Johnson hit a two-run home run, his only hit in three at-bats, in a losing effort against the Marlins on Thursday. Johnson took Henderson Alvarez yard in the second inning to give the Braves an early 2-0 lead. It's been a rough year for Johnson, but he has been swinging a better bat in July -- he has five home runs in the month, as compared to three between April and June. Overall, he's slashing .277/.299/.389 with eight home runs and 42 RBI.

Chris Johnson had three hits -- including a home run -- three RBI and three runs scored in the Braves' 10-7 win over the Cubs on Sunday. It's been a big few days for the third baseman, who's got three home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored over the past two games. The strong finish to the first half leaves Johnson with a .277/.301/.378 line. Johnson hit 15 home runs in 488 at-bats in 2012, so maybe the sudden outburst bodes well for his power production in the second half.

Chris Johnson homered twice Saturday as the Braves won an 11-6 shootout against the Cubs. Both starting pitchers were terrible on a day that the flood gates opened early and often at Wrigley Field. Johnson hit a two-run shot off Edwin Jackson in the top of the second inning and then took E-Jax deep again in the top of the fourth. He finished the afternoon with four RBI.

They were the only three runs the Braves would score, but it was enough for the win. It's been a tough season for Johnson, but he has been swinging the bat better lately, having notched multi-hit games in three out of his last five contests. Overall, he's slashing .284/.304/.366 with three home runs and 27 RBI.

Chris Johnson extended his hitting streak to nine games on Tuesday, going 2-for-4 with an RBI in a win over the Astros. Johnson extended the streak with an RBI double in the second inning. During the nine-game stretch, Johnson is 15-for-37 (.405) with four doubles and four RBI. The heater has raised his overall line to .284/.303/.367, and we may soon see him move back up in the batting order to capitalize on his hot bat.
