Johnson was designated for assignment Thursday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson was traded over to the Indians during the 2015 season and played reasonably well as a member of the Tribe, batting .289 with seven RBI in 90 at-bats, but he also struck out 25 times in that span. With the Indians' recent addition of Rajai Davis, the club opted to DFA Johnson in order to clear a roster spot for the veteran outfielder. "It was a tough decision. As we looked at how we'd allocate playing time on our roster moving forward, we found it' be pretty difficult to get [Johnson] some at-bats. That led to the decision," said president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti.

Johnson went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson made things interesting in the ninth inning with his one-out blast against White Sox closer David Robertson, but the Indians ultimately fell short. The veteran third baseman has now reached base safely in nine consecutive contests dating back to Sept. 7, and is hitting .375 (12-for-32) with six RBI over that span.

Johnson (finger) was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and will rejoin the Indians' roster.
EDGE Analysis
Johnson has missed the minimum amount of time since landing on the disabled list with a hand infection. He got off to a good start with the Indians since being traded from the Braves, recording three doubles and nine total hits in his first 21 at-bats with his new club before his stint on the DL.

EDGE Analysis
Johnson got three at-bats in a rehab appearance Friday and was scheduled to play Saturday. He figures to fill a utility role in the final month of the season.

Johnson went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Rockies. It was the second three-hit performance of the season for Johnson, who is batting .252. Johnson's usage has been on the decline of late with Juan Uribe assuming a near-everyday role at third base and Kelly Johnson seeing most of the at-bats at first base in place of the injured Freddie Freeman, but Thursday's performance may have allowed him to build up some goodwill with manager Fredi Gonzalez.

Johnson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals. Johnson's playing time has been sporadic in June, and he'll sit for the third time in four games after notching the start at first base in Tuesday's loss to Washington.

Johnson is not in the lineup Saturday against the Giants. Saturday marks Johnson's third time on the bench in the four days since he was activated from the DL. It would seem Juan Uribe, whom the Braves acquired from Los Angeles earlier in the week, is currently manager Fredi Gonzalez's preferred option at third base.

Johnson is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers. Johnson was activated from the DL on Wednesday after a brief two-game rehab assignment, but will not immediately slot back into the starting lineup. Instead, manager Fredi Gonzalez will go with the newly-acquired Juan Uribe at the hot corner in the series finale against Los Angeles. The two players figure to be deployed in some sort of timeshare moving forward, though team hasn't indicated how the playing time will divvy up exactly.

Johnson (hand) will be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports. Both Johnson and Juan Uribe should be available for the Braves Wednesday in Los Angeles, so it will be interesting to see who gets the start. With Uribe's arrival, Johnson should be viewed as a part-time player for now.
