Chad Billingsley underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. Billingsley will begin rehabbing in 12-14 days and is expected to need a total of eight months to recover. With that timetable, he seems likely to get a late start in spring training. Billingsley has made just two starts over the last two seasons due to elbow issues.

Chad Billingsley will undergo season-ending surgery to repair torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. It's a rough break for the right-hander, as he was working his way back from Tommy John surgery but couldn't ever get over the hump. Obviously, now we know why. Billingsley won't throw for three months and is facing a six-month rehab process overall. He will be a free agent this winter after the Dodgers give him a $3 million buyout. The righty has made just two starts over the previous two seasons.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) is unlikely to pitch in 2014. After being diagnosed with a partially torn flexor tendon in his right elbow, Billingsley feels as though he's most likely finished for the season.

Chad Billingsley has been diagnosed with a partially torn flexor tendon in his right elbow. While it's an encouraging sign that an MRI revealed no damage to his surgically-repaired UCL in his right elbow, it's unclear what the next step will be for Billingsley to deal with the new ailment. At this point, it's unlikely that Billingsley will pitch for the Dodgers this season.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) has been shut down. Billingsley experienced renewed discomfort in his surgically-repaired right elbow Wednesday while trying to let it loose in a bullpen session. The veteran gave up a run in 1 2/3 innings Sunday in his rehab debut at High-A Rancho Cucamonga. He probably shouldn't be counted on this season, or for future seasons.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Sunday. His first appearance will come for High-A Rancho Cucamonga. With the Dodgers already flush with starting pitching, it's likely that Billingsley would be used in a bullpen role once he is able to return to the team.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Tuesday, and if all goes well he'll begin a minor league rehab assignment next weekend. He continues to work his way back from elbow surgery, and may be used out of the bullpen initially upon his return. His rehab has taken longer than anticipated, as he was shut down for a short time after developing tendinitis in his pitching elbow.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) will throw at least one more simulated game before resuming his rehab assignment. He threw a 30-pitch simulated game Thursday and came through it fine. Billingsley was shut down for nearly a month after developing tendinitis, as well as scar tissue breaking up in his surgically-repaired right elbow. He's preparing to return as a starter, but the Dodgers don't have room for him in their rotation at the moment.

Chad Billingsley (elbow) will throw a two-inning, 30-pitch simulated game on Thursday. The right-hander had to be shut down for a while after developing tendinitis in his pitching elbow, but he's been throwing off a mound for a couple weeks. Billingsley should be ready to resume his rehab assignment soon.
