Billingsley was placed on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a right shoulder strain, MLB.com's Todd Zolecki reports. Billingsley struck out only seven batters and posting a 6.75 ERA over his three starts with the Phillies, which were his first appearances in the majors since undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2013. Though his latest setback isn't related to his elbow, it's nonetheless troubling to see him dealing with another arm-related injury. The Phillies haven't outlined a clear timetable for his return, and it's quite possible that once he gets back from the DL, the team may not have a rotation spot waiting for him.

Billingsley allowed two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out two over six-plus innings, but came away with a no-decision in the Phillies' 4-3 win over Arizona on Friday night. Similar to his last start, Billingsley held the opposition off the board early, but put the first two hitters on to start the seventh inning, and both came around to score. He is improving - his ERA dropped to 6.75 - but he is still struggling a bit with location while building up arm strength, and may remain a risky play in fantasy circles for at least the near future.

Billingsley allowed five runs on eight hits with one walk and three strikeouts in a loss to the Mets on Sunday. Billingsley held the Mets to a run over four innings before giving up a two-run home run to Curtis Granderson in the fifth and then two more runs in the sixth. He still has some work to do with location of his pitches, but that is to be expected after not pitching for two years. He also needs to make an adjustment against left handed batters. They are 12-for-24 with three home runs and two doubles in Billingsley's two starts.

Billingsley got rocked in his first start of the year Tuesday, giving up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk with just two strikeouts in five innings against the Braves. Most of the damage came on home runs by Freddie Freeman and Kelly Johnson with runners on, and considering Shelby Miller shutout the Phillies, Billingsley never really kept his team in the game. The fact that Billingsley was seen as an option in the rotation this early in the season highlights how weak the Phillies' big-league ready pitching depth is. He should remain in the rotation for now, but is only worth a look in deeper formats.

The Phillies activated Billingsley (elbow) from the disabled list Tuesday. Billingsley has finally completed his recovery from an elbow injury that first occurred in April of 2013. He will jump right into the Phillies' rotation and start Tuesday night against a Braves team that lost five of its last seven games.

Billingsley (elbow) will come off the disabled list Tuesday to start against the Braves, the Phillies' official site reports. Billingsley, who will be making his first major league start since 2013, is taking David Buchanan's rotation spot after he was demoted to Triple-A on Saturday. Billingsley went 1-1 with a 4.74 ERA and a 16:6 K:BB ratio in 19 innings on his rehab assignment.

Billingsley (elbow) could join the Phillies' rotation as early as next week, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Billingsley continues to work his way back from an elbow issue dating back to the summer, and it appears his return to the rubber may be on tap. No exact date has been set at this point, but it's tentatively scheduled for next week.

Billingsley (elbow) allowed two runs on five hits in 5.2 innings Thursday in his fourth rehab start with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Billingsley struck out six and walked one. He threw 66 of his 99 pitches for strikes. It is possible the Phillies will have Billingsley join their rotation for his next start rather than having him make one more rehab appearance.

Billingsley (elbow) allowed seven runs on eight hits over five innings Saturday in his third rehab appearance with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Billingsley threw 78 pitches in the outing and plans to reach 90 or 95 pitches in his next start. He is expected to make two more rehab appearances before joining the Phillies rotation.

Billingsley (elbow, illness) will make his next rehab start Saturday, the Phillies' official site reports. Billingsley was scratched from his rehab start Monday due to a stomach illness. He is scheduled to make three more starts before he joins the Phillies' rotation. That plan could change with Sean O'Sullivan hitting the disabled list Wednesday. The Phillies will go with Dustin McGowan for now, but he is better suited for a relief role.
