Brandon League picked up his eight save of the season in Sunday's win over the Brewers. League blew his first save earlier this week, so he needed to bounce back. He didn't have any strikeouts but was able to finish off Clayton Kershaw's four-hitter. With Kenley Jansen lurking in a setup role, League will need to continue to pitch well to keep his job.

Brandon League blew his first save of 2013 in the Dodgers' extra-innings loss to the Mets on Wednesday. League entered the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead, but a leadoff double by Mike Baxter was followed two batters later by David Wright's two-out single. Blown save notwithstanding, League is still a passable closer despite the fact that a better option exists on his own team. And with the money the Dodgers are paying him, League won't be removed from the role due to one rough outing.

Brandon League tallied his fifth save of the season Sunday in the Dodgers' 7-4 win over the Orioles. League allowed a single to Oriroles outfielder Nolan Reimold but tossed an otherwise perfect ninth inning. He boasts a 2.57 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in seven total frames this season and should be a solid fantasy closer all year. Kenley Jansens remains in a setup role.

Brandon League recorded his third save Wednesday despite allowing two runs -- one earned -- in the ninth against the Padres. The Dodgers have to know that Kenley Jansen is their best reliever. Still, League is the closer and that's not such a bad thing. He's a perfect 9-for-9 in save opportunities since joining the team last year.

According to a source familiar with the deal, Brandon League's three-year contract with the Dodgers could reach upwards of $33.5 million after incentives and a potential player option for 2016. League will earn base salaries of $4.5 million in 2013, $7.5 million in 2014 and $7.5 million in 2015, plus a $3 million signing bonus. However, if League finishes 55 games in 2015, the deal triggers a $7.5 million player option for 2016. If he finishes 55 games in 2015 and 100 games over 2014-2015, that option becomes $8.5 million, and if he finishes 55 games in 2015 and 150 games between 2013-2015 it becomes $9 million. There's also $500,000 in potential incentives that can be earned along the way.

Dodgers signed RHP Brandon League to a three-year contract extension with a vesting option for 2016. Tim Dierkes of MLBTradeRumors.com reports that League will get $22.5 million for the first three years. Not only are the Dodgers overpaying League, but general manager Ned Colletti says they're viewing him as their closer over Kenley Jansen. It's surprising given that Jansen has clearly been a better pitcher over the last two and a half seasons, but perhaps they remain concerned about Jansen's heart issue. League converted all six save chances for the Dodgers down the stretch this year while posting a 2.30 ERA and striking out a batter per inning.

Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times reports that Brandon League has re-signed with the Dodgers. Hernandez doesn't have the financials at this time, but he says it's a three-year deal. League pitched well for the Dodgers down the stretch, posting a 2.30 ERA over 28 appearances while striking out a batter per inning. He would be used in a setup role ahead of Kenley Jansen.

According to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times, the Dodgers are talking to Brandon League's representatives about a three-year contract. League converted all six of his save opportunities with the Dodgers after coming over at the trade deadline and is eligible for free agency for the first time this winter. Ideally, League will be used to set-up for Kenley Jansen. He made $5 million in 2012, his final year of arbitration.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti has been "encouraged" by early contract talks with impending free agent Brandon League. League pitched well in his time with the Dodgers, posting a 2.30 ERA over 28 appearances while striking out a batter per inning. He might be able to get a shot at a closer gig somewhere, but it sounds like he'd be willing to set up for Kenley Jansen if the price is right. League made $5 million in 2012.

Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said Thursday that the team is interested in re-signing impending free agents Brandon League, Jamey Wright and Randy Choate. League got off to a bit of a slow start after coming over from the Mariners, but allowed just one earned run over his final 21 appearances. He should draw interest from multiple teams due to his previous closer experience. Choate held left-handed batters to a .158 batting average this year while Wright posted a 3.72 ERA and 54/30 K/BB ratio over 67 2/3 innings.
