An MRI on Brandon Beachy's elbow taken Saturday showed no structural damage. Beachy was scratched from his scheduled start against the Mets with tenderness, but the MRI showed only fluid and no structural damage to the elbow itself. That's good news, as it just requires rest. The Braves aren't hurting for a starter at the moment, so they'll give Beachy all the time he needs as he continues to work his way back from last year's Tommy John surgery.

Brandon Beachy was scratched from his scheduled start against the Mets on Tuesday due to what is being considered minor elbow tenderness. This is the first discomfort of any kind that he's experienced in his 12-month recovery from Tommy John surgery, and the organization considers it just a minor setback. They will continue to monitor his situation, but there are no immediate plans for Beachy to undergo an MRI.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said Friday that Brandon Beachy will not return to the Braves rotation on Tuesday against the Mets. He hasn't experienced any type of setback, but the team feels that pushing him back and allowing him more time to recover would be the prudent thing to do. Pushing back Beachy's return also gives them more time to evaluate who to remove from the rotation, which isn't an easy decision with Julio Teheran and Kris Medlen pitching well.

Braves general manager Frank Wren said Friday that Brandon Beachy (elbow) is "not set in stone" to be activated to start Tuesday against the Mets. Beachy gave up three runs -- two earned -- on three hits and four walks over three innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, which isn't the ideal way for him to wrap up his rehab assignment. The Braves haven't ruled him out, but Wren said that they'll see how he feels Friday and Saturday before making a final decision.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) struggled in his final rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett Thursday, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on three hits and four walks over three innings. It's not an ideal way for Beachy to end his rehab assignment before starting one of the games of the June 18 doubleheader against the Mets. But, he does have a 3.27 ERA while striking out a batter per inning over five rehab starts. The Braves have yet to decide what they will do with their rotation when Beachy is ready and they have six viable starters.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) pitched well in his second-to-last rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday, racking up eight strikeouts over five innings. Beachy threw 94 pitches on the night, 60 of them for strikes, and allowed just one run on four hits and three walks. He'll have one more outing in the minor leagues and is then expected to be activated to start one half of the Braves' doubleheader against the Mets on June 18.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) struggled to get loose during his rehab start with Double-A Mississippi on Monday. Beachy wound up allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings. The righty wasn't alarmed that he had trouble getting loose and views it as just part of the recovery process. "Those days are going to happen," Beachy said. "They happen when I'm healthy. I got one out of the way yesterday. Next time, I'll be better prepared to make better adjustments and better pitches when I don't necessarily feel my best." Beachy will make two more rehab starts before likely being activated on June 18 to start one of the games in the doubleheader against the Mets.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) is on track to make his 2013 debut on June 18 against the Mets. That assumes that he pitches well over his next three minor league rehab starts and experiences no renewed discomfort in his surgically-repaired right elbow. Beachy underwent Tommy John surgery one year ago. It'll take him a while to fully rebuild the strength of his throwing arm, but he's a good guy to stash in mixed fantasy leagues.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) tossed five scoreless innings Wednesday in his second rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett. Nice to hear. Beachy allowed three hits and one walk while striking out three. He'll likely require at least three more starts before coming off the disabled list, which puts him on pace to be an option for the Braves rotation around the middle of June. This would be a good time to stash him in fantasy leagues.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) allowed two runs over four innings in his first official minor league rehab start Friday with Triple-A Gwinnett. It was his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery last June. Beachy is expected to make around five starts in the minors, so he should be an option for the Braves' rotation in 3-4 weeks if he can avoid setbacks.
