Braves and RHP Brandon Beachy avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.45 million contract. Beachy had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2012 and was limited to just five starts in 2013. He's expected to be 100 percent healthy heading into spring training next February and will try to get his career back on track. The 27-year-old right-hander was arbitration-eligible for the first time after earning a near-minimum $510,000 salary this past season.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) is fully expected to be ready for the start of spring training in 2014. Beachy underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2012 and then needed an arthroscopic cleanup procedure last month. The hope is that the 27-year-old right-hander can get his career back on track next season after showing such promise early on. He posted a 3.07 ERA and 9.5 K/9 in 237 2/3 innings between 2010 and 2012.

Brandon Beachy underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow on Thursday. Beachy has been limited to just five starts with the Braves this season due to continued elbow issues, but the good news is that another Tommy John surgery was not necessary. The hope is that he'll be good to go for spring training.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) still has not yet been cleared to throw off of a mound. Beachy has been on the shelf since August 20 due to renewed inflammation in his right elbow. Braves skipper Fredi Gonzalez indicated Friday that they would still like to get him some work in an instructional league game before the end of the season to give him some peace of mind heading into the offseason.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) will attempt to play catch on Monday or Tuesday. While Beachy hasn't officially been shut down for the season yet, it remains an extreme long shot that he returns to help the Braves in 2013. The Braves should provide an update on his status, including any potential timetable for his return, early next week.

Brandon Beachy is still experiencing elbow discomfort. Beachy tried playing catch earlier this week following a 10-day shutdown period and didn't feel so hot after the workout. There's a good chance he will be shut down for the remainder of the 2013 season. Beachy had Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery in June 2012.

Brandon Beachy (elbow) will be shut down for 10 days. Beachy paid a visit to Dr. James Andrews on Tuesday and will check back in with the famous surgeon once those 10 days of rest are through. It's not clear what the next step might be. Beachy, who underwent Tommy John surgery last June, was placed on the disabled list last week with inflammation in his surgically-repaired right elbow.

Brandon Beachy has been scratched from Sunday's scheduled start and is scheduled to see Dr. James Andrews on Monday. Uh oh. No word on the reason for the change, but Beachy may have had another setback with his surgically-repaired right elbow. Mike Minor is now scheduled to start in his place Sunday against the Cardinals.

Brandon Beachy allowed four runs -- three earned -- in six innings in a loss to the Mets on Tuesday. The start wasn't Beachy's worst of the year, but the performance saddled him with his first loss of 2013. He gave up five hits, including a two-run homer to Marlon Byrd, while striking out four. Beachy is now 2-1 with a 4.50 ERA in five starts. He'll make his next start Sunday against the Cardinals in St. Louis.
