Andy Dirks (Achilles) will not be ready for activation from the disabled list Friday as originally hoped. "I don't know when I'm getting Dirks back," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. The Tigers had hoped that Dirks could begin a rehab assignment sometime during their road trip, which ends Thursday. That won't happen, though, and it not clear when Dirks will be cleared to resume playing.

The Tigers are expected to place Andy Dirks (Achilles) on the 15-day disabled list. Dirks underwent an MRI to his right Achilles on Friday, but the results have not yet been released. Matt Young has been called up from Triple-A Toledo, though the club has yet to announce a corresponding move. If the Tigers opt to keep Dirks active, they could designate Don Kelly for assignment.

Andy Dirks (Achilles) is out of the Tigers' lineup for the third straight day Friday. Dirks has a right Achilles injury which apparently isn't getting any better, but the Tigers aren't considering a DL-stint at the moment. Delmon Young is starting in left field Friday while Gerald Laird serves as the DH.

Andy Dirks' right Achilles injury felt worse Thursday than it did on Wednesday. For what it's worth, Tom Gage of the Detroit News reports that the Tigers are "sounding somewhat concerned." Dirks has missed back-to-back games and we wouldn't expect to see him in the lineup Friday, either.

Andy Dirks (Achilles) is out of the Tigers' lineup for the second straight day Thursday. Dirks is dealing with soreness in his Achilles and is considered day-to-day. Don Kelly will make the start in left field Thursday against the Red Sox.

Andy Dirks went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in a win over the Twins on Saturday. Dirks' two-run double was part of a four-run fifth inning off starter Carl Pavano. The 25-year-old outfielder has cooled down a bit recently, but he's still hitting .322/.375/.525 with a .900 OPS and 22 runs scored in 33 games. Life is pretty good hitting No. 2 in front of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder.

Andy Dirks went 4-for-4 and hit his third homer Thursday as the Tigers topped the A's 10-6. Dirks, who missed Wednesday's game with a sore hamstring, came out for a pinch-runner in this one, though it didn't appear as though he aggravated anything. He's now hitting .383 for the season.

Andy Dirks (hamstring) is back in the Tigers' starting lineup Thursday against the Athletics. Dirks sat out Wednesday's game with a sore left hamstring, which has been a lingering issue for him this season. The 26-year-old currently has a streak of four straight multi-hit games.

Andy Dirks is not in Wednesday's lineup due to a sore left hamstring. It's an ailment he's been dealing with off and on since mid-April. Dirks has been hot at the plate lately, though, so unless he has a setback, it doesn't appear to be something that will force him to the DL.

Andy Dirks drove in three runs with a double and a single Tuesday against the Mariners. Dirks has collected two hits in four games in a row, raising his average to .339. He's turning into a fixture against right-handers for the Tigers.
