Andy Dirks went 2-for-5 with a home run as the Tigers beat the Indians on Tuesday. The homer was Dirks' fifth, and he drove in two runs on the night. What's more, the outfielder batted leadoff ahead of Torii Hunter and Miguel Cabrera. It's likely temporary until Austin Jackson returns, but if Dirks can continue to get on base he should be in line to score plenty of runs in his new lineup spot.

Andy Dirks went 3-for-4 and hit his first career grand slam Monday versus the Tigers. If Avisail Garcia stays half as hot in the majors as he was in the minors, then a left field controversy could bloom when Austin Jackson is ready to return. Dirks, though, deserves to keep his spot against right-handers. He's hitting .317 with three homers and seven RBI in May after his rough April.

Andy Dirks went 4-for-4 with a home run in Sunday's win over the Astros. Dirks got off to a slow start, but it's looking like he's finally healthy after dealing with a lingering knee injury for most of the season. He'll need to continue to produce at a high level with Nick Castellanos waiting in the minors.

Back in the starting lineup, Andy Dirks went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk Monday against the Twins. Dirks hadn't played in five days because of a sore right knee. Some have called for the Tigers to promote Nick Castellanos to play left field, but Dirks is going to produce as long as the team doesn't jerk him around. He should be back in there Tuesday against Vance Worley.

Andy Dirks was out of the Tigers' lineup on Sunday night because of lingering soreness in his right knee. Dirks banged the knee against a wall during spring training and hasn't felt right since. He is currently considered day-to-day. The outfielder is batting .167/.281/.188 with no homers in 17 games this season.

Andy Dirks is currently dealing with a sore right knee. It's the same knee that Dirks injured during spring training. While it caused him to miss Thursday's game, Tigers manager Jim Leyland isn't sure whether he'll be ready to play Friday. Consider him day-to-day for now.

Andy Dirks is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Blue Jays. He'll take a seat against the left-hander Mark Buehrle. Matt Tuiasosopo will make the start in left field and bat sixth.

Andy Dirks (knee) is expected to return to action Friday. Dirks has been out since banging his right knee into the outfield wall on Tuesday. "He isn't ready to play," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "I hope he'll be ready (Friday), but I don't know the answer to that."

Andy Dirks left Tuesday's Grapefruit League game with a right knee contusion after he banged into the left field wall. Dirks is considered day-to-day, so he shouldn't be out of action for long. The 27-year-old is expected to get the bulk of at-bats in left field for the Tigers this season, making him an interesting flier in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.

Andy Dirks (intercostal strain) returned to the Tigers lineup on Friday, after missing almost a week of action. The issue wasn't believed to be serious, but the Tigers opted to play it safe, rather than risk further injury. While there have been rumblings that the Tigers could use a platoon situation in left field, Dirks should at a minimum start against most right-handers, and makes for an attractive flier as a fifth outfielder in deeper mixed leagues.
