Andy Dirks left Tuesday's game after apparently aggravating his left hamstring. Dirks missed a week of action last month with the ailment. We'll update his status when more is known. Brad Eldred pinch-ran for him.

Andy Dirks connected on a three-run homer in the first inning, which was enough to lead the Tigers to a 7-5 victory over the Yankees in New York on Saturday. Dirks, getting the start in left field in place of Delmon Young, finished the game 1-for-4. He also made several nice defensive plays to support Drew Smyly in the game. He's off to a strong start to the season, hitting .290 (9-for-31) with five RBI. When he's receiving consistent playing time, he can be a valuable asset as a fourth or fifth outfielder in deeper mixed leagues.

Andy Dirks (hamstring) is expected to return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Thursday. "Dirks is ready to go," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Wednesday night. "He'll probably play tomorrow." The 26-year-old is batting .304/.333/.435 with two RBI through his first 23 at-bats this season.

Young was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to continued issues with his recent oblique injury. Dirks, a left-handed hitter, is 0-for-2 during the postseason and batted .251/.296/.406 with seven homers, 28 RBI and a .703 OPS over 235 plate appearances during the regular season.
