Amarista, starting at third base, went 1-for-2 with a run and and RBI Monday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista started the season in Triple-A but was recalled following Yangervis Solarte's injury. The infielder hit a paltry .204 last season, but recorded 12 stolen bases in 2014 and could swipe a couple if he gets consistent time with Solarte out.

Amarista (shoulder) has been recalled from Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista is currently en route to Colorado, where he is expected to be available for the Sunday afternoon matchup. With Yangervis Solarte on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, Amarista will provide the Padres with infield depth. Although Amarista is dealing with a shoulder injury of his own, he is already on the 40-man roster, making this move convenient from a procedural standpoint.

Amarista (shoulder) was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Desnnis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista would have made the roster as a utility infielder, as Alexei Ramirez has already locked down the every day shortstop job. He'll work out his shoulder injury in the minors, but should be back up with the team at some point this season.

Manager Andy Green said Wednesday that it's "possible" that Amarista (shoulder) could be healthy enough to earn an Opening Day roster slot, but added that it was unlikely, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista injured his shoulder on a diving attempt in the field Monday, and reports earlier Wednesday suggested that the diminutive shortstop could be on track for a DL stint to start the year. Manager Andy Green stopped short of saying that Amarista will start the season on the disabled list, but he was realistic with his expectations. If Amarista is unable to go on Opening Day, it could open a spot on the roster for Jemile Weeks to fill in as the reserve shortstop. That said, Alexei Ramirez figures to be the regular shortstop in San Diego this season.

Amarista (shoulder) could open the season on the DL, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
A diving attempt Monday resulted in a jammed left shoulder for Amarista, who was on the roster bubble even before the injury due to poor performance throughout the spring. Amarista has gone just 11-for-45 (.244 average) with three extra-base hits in 20 Cactus League games. There's no guarantee he'll have a spot waiting for him once he's healthy.

Amarista is hitting just .242 this spring and could be in danger of not making the 25-man roster, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista had a hit in Thursday's spring game and has improved after a slow start. However, he's facing competition for a utility role with Jose Pirela, Jemile Weeks and Adam Rosales.

Amarista is out of the lineup Friday against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista will sit for the fourth time in the past five games, suggesting the Padres may no longer view him as an everyday player. Jedd Gyorko will slide over from second base to cover shortstop Friday, while Cory Spangenberg will start at second base.

Amarista is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals. Amarista will now have started just two of five contests to begin the month of July, as Clint Barmes seems to be cutting into his playing time a bit. He did show improvement at the plate in June, batting .293 on the month, but a .215 season average simply isn't enough to lock him in as the everyday shortstop.

Amarista is out of the lineup Friday against the Cardinals. Amarista entered Thursday's game for Yangervis Solarte, but will once again be out of the initial lineup after another two hitless at-bats, dropping his average to .213 on the season. Clint Barmes will once again start at shortstop, batting eighth for the Padres.
