Amarista still profiles as more of a glove-first player who will make most of his appearances as a defensive replacement, but his success over the past few weeks could help him pick up more plate appearances moving forward, especially if an injury befalls one of the Rockies' regulars.

Amarista has only one hit (a double on Opening Day) in eight at-bats this season.

The 27-year-old has never hit higher than .257 during his big league career, but his ability to play infield and outfield along with his major league contract status should give him an inside track to one of the more prominent bench roles for the Rockies.
