Amarista is batting seventh and playing second base Thursday, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The infielder had been splitting starts at shortstop in the week or so before Trevor Story returned from the disabled list, and Amarista squeezes out another start with DJ LeMahieu taking a breather.

Amarista is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Phillies, Ben Harris of Phillies.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista and Pat Valaika had been splitting duties at shortstop following Trevor Story's placement on the disabled list earlier in May, but both will lose out on consistent at-bats with Story making his return to the lineup Wednesday. Of the two utility infielders, Amarista likely has a better chance than Valaika to stick around as a reserve option. Amarista has been stellar at the plate when called upon this season, hitting .379 with two homers and 13 RBI in 59 plate appearances.

Amarista is out of the lineup Sunday against the Reds, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting the last two games and amassing five hits -- three for extra bases -- and six RBI, Amarista seems to have emerged as manager Bud Black's preferred option at shortstop while Trevor Story (shoulder) has been sidelined. Amarista will give way to Pat Valaika on Sunday, but looks like the better bet of the two players to stick around when Story is activated from the disabled list, perhaps in the coming days.

Amarista went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 12-6 win over Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
The super-utility player is making quite an impression with the Rockies, as he's now raised his slash line one the season to .341/.356/.568 through 45 plate appearances. It's reasonable to believe that the lifetime .233 hitter is due for some regression back towards his career norms, but the Rockies should give him more plate appearances for as long as his bat stays hot.

Amarista holds a .314/.333/.486 slash line in 35 at-bats this season.
EDGE Analysis
The super-utility man got off to a slow start at the dish, but he managed to turn things around thanks in part to a couple of modest hitting streaks comprised primarily of pinch-hit appearances. Amarista still profiles as more of a glove-first player who will make most of his appearances as a defensive replacement, but his success over the past few weeks could help him pick up more plate appearances moving forward, especially if an injury befalls one of the Rockies' regulars.

Amarista has only one hit (a double on Opening Day) in eight at-bats this season.
EDGE Analysis
The super utility man was brought in over the offseason to act as a capable reserve player, but so far he's failed to capitalize on his limited opportunities. Amarista is better known for his glove than his bat, but unless he can show any semblance of life at the dish, he'll likely be relegated to merely serving as a defensive replacement for many of his appearances.

Amarista is batting ninth and starting in left field for Friday's Cactus League contest, Jenny Cavnar of ROOT Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista left Wednesday's game after he was stuck in the forearm by a pitch, but appears he's good to go after a day of rest. The utility man is hitting .235/.316/.294 over 14 games this spring.

Amarista exited Wednesday's spring game after he was hit by a pitch on his forearm, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amarista had his wrist checked out in the dugout afterwards, but the substitution primarily appeared to be precautionary, as it didn't appear to be overly serious. He should be considered day-to-day until the Rockies note otherwise.

Amarista participated in his first spring game Sunday and went 0-for-2.
EDGE Analysis
The utility man logged all his innings at shortstop during Colorado's split-squad game, although with Trevor Story locked in at that spot and stalwarts Nolan Arenado, DJ LeMehieu and Ian Desmond rounding off the infield, Amarista seems to just be staying sharp as he prepares for a reserve utility role. The 27-year-old has never hit higher than .257 during his big league career, but his ability to play infield and outfield along with his major league contract status should give him an inside track to one of the more prominent bench roles for the Rockies.

Amarista agreed to a one-year contract with the Rockies on Monday, Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old was non-tendered by the Padres earlier in December, but he'll remain in the NL West and reunite with his former manager Bud Black. Amarista doesn't have the most impressive batting line (career .230/.276/.320), but his speed and expansive defensive versatility should play well into a super utility role off of Colorado's bench.
