Pierzynski is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Pierzynski has started three of the first four games of the season for the Braves, but will sit Sunday in favor of Tyler Flowers behind the plate. Look for manager Fredi Gonzalez continue to be attentive to the usage of his 39-year-old backstop, especially early in the season.

Pierzynski is in the lineup Saturday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Pierzynski was given the day off Friday, but he'll be back behind the plate Saturday for his third start of the season. Tyler Flowers, who got the nod Friday, will shift back to the bench.

Pierzynski will be the starting catcher on Opening Day versus the Nationals, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
This announcement is simply because the Nationals will be starting the right-handed Max Scherzer on Opening Day. Tyler Flowers is slated to start in the second game against left-hander Gio Gonzalez, so it appears that the Braves will be employing them in a platoon, at least for the time being.

Pierzynski is 5-for-19 (all singles) with one strikeout and zero walks so far this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop returned to Atlanta on a one-year deal after a bounce-back 2015 campaign, a season in which he hit an even .300 with his best OPS (.769) since 2012. It's not entirely clear how the workload behind the plate will be divvied up in 2016 between Pierzynski and Tyler Flowers, but a relatively even timeshare to start seems likely.

Pierzynski agreed to a one-year contract with the Braves on Wednesday, pending a physical, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Signed by the Braves last offseason as a low-cost placeholder for Christian Bethancourt, Pierzynski ended up batting an even .300 in 407 at-bats, his best mark since 2009. His .339 OBP was his best since 2003. With Bethancourt still not looking ready for a primary role, Pierzynski will presumably serve as the starter again this season while perhaps returning to the middle of the Atlanta batting order.

Pierzynski is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
Pierzynski will not have caught either of Sunday's two games, but should still be available off the bench in an emergency situation. Ryan Lavarnway will man the backstop for the second game of the day.

EDGE Analysis
He'll likely be back on the mound for Game 2 to serve as the battery mate for Matt Wisler, but Ryan Lavarnway gets the nod behind the plate for the early game.

Pierzynski was 3-for-3 with two solo homers in Tuesday's 2-1 victory over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Pierzynski launched gopher balls off of Tanner Roark in the fourth and seventh innings, extending his modest hitting streak to seven games. The 38-year-old backstop celebrated his first multi-homer game of 2015, and fifth multi-hit outing of September. Pierzyski is capping off his 17th campaign with a productive season at the plate, posting a .299/.336/.429 line over 404 at-bats.

Pierzynski (shoulder) is back in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Pierzynski missed a start Saturday, but that could very well have been more the left-handed starter on the mound for the Marlins than shoulder troubles for the 38-year-old. He'll bat cleanup as the Braves take on Marlins starter Tom Koehler.
