Hill is scheduled to get another MRI on his forearm, Andrew Baggarly of The Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hill has been working his way back from a forearm injury in extended spring training, though his lack of progress has prompted the Giants to send him for a precautionary MRI. He still remains without a timetable for return, though one should become clearer after the test results are known.

Hill was placed on the 10-day DL with a right forearm strain, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Christian Arroyo, the Giants' top prospect, was called-up to fill Hill's spot on the roster for the time being. It's currently unclear how long Hill will be sidelined with the injury, though the Giants' should update his status once more is known. Hill is slashing just .120/.241/.240 through 12 games, so this loss isn't too impactful for fantasy purposes.

Hill will start in left field and lead off for the Giants in Wednesday's game against the Royals, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Bruce Bochy will give struggling veteran Denard Span the night off with left-hander Jason Vargas twirling for the Royals, opening up the leadoff spot for Hill, who projects to see a good portion of his at-bats against southpaws this season. A career .267/.333/.431 hitter versus lefties, Hill could make for a decent low-cost DFS option for the Wednesday slate.

Hill is starting in left field and hitting second Friday in San Diego, the San Francisco Chronicle's Henry Schulman reports.
EDGE Analysis
It seems like Hill is playing his way into a legitimate role early in the season, as he will bat in a prominent position in the lineup despite the fact that the Giants are facing righty Luis Perdomo. Look for him to continue to see several starts each week, seeing time in the infield and in left field, as long as he continues to hold his own at the plate.

Hill got the start Thursday, going 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder got a spot-start at second base with a left-handed starter on the mound, a situation that could arise once or twice a week. Manager Bruce Bochy moved Hill to left field (a position he has never played in the majors) in an effort to expand his role as a utility player, but the 35-year-old misplayed a ball that directly led to more runs for the Diamondbacks, so it is unclear how many more opportunities he will get in the outfield. For now, Hill's value is will be limited to punt plays in daily fantasy formats on days where he is in the lineup.

The Giants purchased Hill's contract from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Hill, who was attending Giants camp as a non-roster invitee, is expected to work in a utility role for the team this season, primarily offering relief at second base, third base and shortstop. The 35-year-old proved capable when called upon in 2016 during stints with the Brewers and Red Sox, but he'll remain off the fantasy radar until an injury forces him into a full-time role.

With Jimmy Rollins being told that he won't make the Opening Day roster Monday, Hill figures to have made the cut as one of the Giants' backup infielders, according to Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area.
EDGE Analysis
While nothing is official, the fact that the Giants are opting to keep the veteran infielder on the roster past Monday's deadline for a $100,000 retention bonus signals that they view him as a part of the Opening Day roster. Hill's versatility to back up several positions in the infield, as well as his ability to play the outfield in a pinch, make him a logical choice for a bench role. The 35-year-old batted .255 (12-for-47) this spring, but he won't generate fantasy value as a backup.

Hill got a rare start in left field Monday, going 0-for-3 in a spring training win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The non-roster invitee is fighting for a backup role on the 25-man roster. Monday's start in left field (his first appearance since his college days) adds to Hill's flexibility and increases his odds at making the cut. The 35-year-old's primary value as a backup would be his ability to play three infield spots, but being able to spell expected left field starter, Jarrett Parker, against southpaws makes him a good fit for the team.

Hill started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's spring training win over the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
The soon-to-be 35-year-old is swinging a hot bat in early Cactus League action (.333/.375/.400 in 16 plate appearances). He was brought in on a minor league contract, but he could play his way onto the major league roster as a utility infielder. Kelby Tomlinson and Jimmy Rollins are the top candidates to win the final utility infield role out of camp, but Hill has definitely thrown his hat in the race.

Hill agreed to a minor league deal with the Giants, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal likely includes an invite to spring training. San Francisco has a few holes in their lineup and are throwing darts to see how they can fill them. Hill has shown fleeting use in mixed leagues over recent years as the power and speed he displayed in several great seasons have eroded. Turning 35 before the start of this season, his biggest utility most likely would come as a playing time compiler if he can land an opportunity. He could carry value as a rental in deep mixed leagues.
