GM Trent Baalke says the 49ers are "still interested" in free agent Charles Woodson. The 49ers remain Woodson's only visit, but there's been no indication a deal is close. The 49ers have a major hole opposite Donte Whitner, but are clearly only going to sign Woodson at their price. Woodson's play is on the decline, but he's still a much better option than Craig Dahl.

Free agent Charles Woodson confirmed that his market has been "slow" to develop and compared his current situation to his experience in 2006. "Oddly enough, it was a lot like it is right now," Woodsonÿtold 790 The Zone in Atlanta.ÿ"It was slow. I had nobody really calling." Outside of a visit with the 49ers last month, Woodson hasn't heard from anyone in free agency. His market should heat up after the draft.

Free agent Charles Woodson says he hasn't heard from "anyone" in free agency Woodson visited the 49ers early last month, but his market has been dead silent since. Woodson previously said he felt "shunned," and now says he feels "ancient." For now, Woodson doesn't appear to be considering retirement.

Free agent Charles Woodson has felt "shunned" on the open market. "I thought there would be a little more interest," Woodson said Wednesday. "(I'm) just waiting around to see what happens." Woodson's only visit took place with the 49ers last Thursday. The 49ers are reportedly "keeping their options open" with Woodson, but they've already signed third-safety type Craig Dahl. Woodson's market could heat up once Ed Reed finally finds a home.

The player rep for free agent Charles Woodson says the Texans have reached out to his client. Woodson visited the 49ers on Wednesday, but no deal is imminent. San Francisco is hosting free agent Louis Delmas on Thursday. Woodson might be an option in Houston if the Texans can't work something out with free agent Ed Reed first.

Free agent S Charles Woodson will visit the 49ers on Wednesday. It will be Woodson's first known visit since getting released last month. He'd be an experienced replacement for Dashon Goldson, but a major downgrade at this point in his career.

A team source tells the Miami Herald that the Dolphins have "moderate" interest in free agent S Charles Woodson. The Dolphins have a need for a playmaker in the secondary with top corner Sean Smith and No. 1 free safety Chris Clemons both unrestricted free agents. However, Woodson likely wants to play for a contender and Miami is making a concerted effort to get younger. This doesn't look like a realistic fit for the 36-year-old future Hall of Famer.

ESPN's John Clayton mentioned the Ravens and Patriots as teams that would make sense for free agent S Charles Woodson. Woodson is going on 37 years old and only has a couple of years left in the tank, so he's fully expected to try and find a starting gig with a Super Bowl contender. Baltimore and New England would qualify, as would Denver, whom Clayton's colleague, Ed Werder, mentioned on Friday afternoon. The Ravens would make sense if Ed Reed leaves via free agency. Woodson can sign with a team immediately.

ESPN's Ed Werder suggested on NFL Live Friday that S Charles Woodson will target the Broncos and Patriots as suitors in free agency. "I would look for Woodson," said Werder, "... to look at a team like Denver or New England." Released by Green Bay on Friday, Woodson is eligible to sign with a team immediately. At 36 years old, Woodson figures to target a Super Bowl contender entering quite possibly the final season of his NFL career.
