Greinke (0-2) took the loss against Toronto on Wednesday, pitching six innings and allowing one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke scattered seven singles in the outing, and he held the Blue Jays scoreless until the sixth inning. That was enough for Toronto to claim the win, however, as Kansas City's offense managed just two hits and no runs. Greinke fell to 0-2 with the defeat, but he's pitched well in his first two starts of the campaign. The veteran has allowed three runs while posting an 8:2 K:BB over his first 11.1 frames.

Greinke (0-1) allowed two earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four across 5.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke kept pace with his counterpart Pablo Lopez, as he held the Twins scoreless until the top of the sixth inning. As has been the case in recent years, Greinke's success came from his ability to induce soft contact rather than generate swings and misses. That will lead to more volatile outcomes, but he managed a respectable 3.68 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 137 innings in 2022 and began the new campaign in good form as well.

Greinke was announced as the Royals' Opening Day starter Friday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brady Singer also would have made sense, but Greinke's seniority rules here as he'll make his seventh career Opening Day start, including his third with Kansas City. He'll face off against the Twins on March 30 at Kauffmann Stadium.

Greinke allowed a run on one hit and struck out seven over four innings in Tuesday's Cactus League loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke appears to be ramping up just fine this spring. The run he allowed Tuesday was his second of the spring, and it came on a solo home run by Tyler Stephenson. Greinke has added an 11:1 K:BB across nine Cactus League innings. He should get at least two more appearances before lining up to pitch in the Royals' first series of the season.

Greinke agreed Monday with the Royals on a one-year contract, Bob Fescoe of 610 Sports Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal will pay him $8-to-10 million with the chance for more with performance incentives, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. Greinke returns to the Royals after a 2022 season in which he went 4-9 with a 3.68 ERA and 73:27 K:BB over 137 innings in 26 starts. The 39-year-old right-hander will assuredly be a part of the Kansas City rotation, but his inability to miss bats at this stage of his career renders him little more than a risky streaming option for the 2023 campaign in the majority of fantasy formats.

Greinke yielded two runs (one earned) on one walk and seven hits over six innings against Cleveland on Monday. He struck out one and did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke didn't get much run support until the Royals won the game in the 10th frame. The veteran righty gave up just one run over 13 frames in his final two starts of the year, lowering his season ERA to 3.68 through 26 starts. Greinke dominated the Guardians this season, registering a 1.19 and a 9:4 K:BB in four starts against them. He struck out just 73 batters through 137 innings this year.

Greinke struck out two in seven scoreless innings while allowing four hits and a walk in a 4-3 extra-inning loss Tuesday in Detroit. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke was masterful Tuesday, facing just two over the minimum even though he allowed five baserunners thanks to a pickoff and two double plays. He needed just 86 pitches to complete the seven frames and left the game with the Royals leading 3-0. It was his longest and best outing of the season and he lowered his ERA for the year to 3.98.

Greinke will likely start Tuesday's road matchup against the Tigers, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke allowed four runs on 10 hits and no walks while striking out three in 5.1 innings Tuesday against the Twins and will get a few extra days of rest prior to his next start. Max Castillo is expected to be called up from Triple-A Omaha to start Sunday's game against the Mariners at home.

Greinke gave up four runs on 10 hits and struck out three in 5.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Twins on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 10 hits allowed matched a season high for Greinke, though he managed to avoid issuing a walk for the first time in four starts. The veteran right-hander continues to struggle with pitching deep into games, as he's failed to complete six frames in three of his last four outings. For the season, he has a 4.21 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 70:25 K:BB through 124 innings across 24 starts. Greinke is projected for a home start versus the Mariners in his next outing.

Greinke (4-9) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks over four innings in a 4-0 loss against the Twins. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Greinke surrendered a two-run double to Gary Sanchez in the first inning to cap a three-run frame for the Twins, but the righty allowed only one baserunner over the next three frames. The veteran has been solid in his last five starts, turning in a 2.39 ERA over 26.1 innings. The 38-year-old has staggering home/road splits, posting a 1.93 ERA and a 4-2 record during 11 starts in Kansas City compared to a 6.36 ERA and 0-7 record in 12 starts on the road.
