Darvish fell to 8-8 in Monday's 4-1 loss to Baltimore, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six batters over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish moved past Hideo Nomo for most strikeouts by a Japanese-born pitcher in MLB history when he fanned Ramon Urias in the sixth inning. That impressive feat aside, it was another frustrating performance for the right-hander, as he pitched pretty well overall but got little run support and took the loss. Darvish has posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB across 20 frames over three August starts but doesn't have a win to show for it. He's at a 2.98 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 42:13 K:BB over 42.1 innings in seven starts since the All-Star break.

Darvish allowed an unearned run on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish has allowed just three runs (two earned) over his last 19 innings across three starts, but he has just one win to show for it in that span. The veteran right-hander was able to trim his ERA to 4.19 with the strong outing, though he still has a shaky 1.25 WHIP and 125:40 K:BB through 120.1 innings over 21 starts. Darvish is projected for a tough matchup in his next start at home versus the Orioles next week.

Darvish (8-7) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Rangers on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish has turned in three quality starts over four outings since the All-Star break. This was a good bounce-back for him after the Pirates tagged him for seven runs in 4.1 innings in his last start. Darvish continues to battle inconsistency this season with a 4.53 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 117:38 K:BB through 107.1 innings over 19 starts. The 36-year-old is lined up for a home start against the Dodgers next week.

Darvish (7-7) allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.1 innings to take the loss Monday versus the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was tagged for a season-high four homers Monday, which saw him fail to complete five frames for just the second time all season. He'd allowed just one run over 12 innings across his first two starts of the second half. The right-hander's poor start inflated his ERA to 4.80 with a 1.31 WHIP and 108:36 K:BB through 101.1 innings over 18 starts this season. Darvish is lined up for a tough home start versus the Rangers this weekend.

Darvish (7-6) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over Toronto. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander was brilliant, generating 31 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches as he delivered his second straight quality start and seventh of the season. Darvish has had trouble maintaining any success in 2023 -- the quality start streak of two is the longest he's managed -- and since the beginning of June he sports a 4.02 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 46:16 K:BB through 40.1 innings. He'll try to keep rolling in his next outing, likely to come at home early next week against the Pirates.

Darvish (6-6) earned the win Friday, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over six innings against the Phillies. He struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old turned in a vintage performance in his first start of the second half, inducing 13 swinging strikes on 94 pitches. Darvish limped into the All-Star break with a 6.97 ERA over his last six starts, so this was a big step in the right direction. The peripherals are significantly better than the surface stats to this point, and with that, we should expect more positive regression for Darvish in the weeks and months ahead.

Darvish (illness) gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Mets on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
An non-COVID-19 illness cost Darvish two starts, though he didn't go on the injured list. The right-hander was a little off in terms of quality in his return to action, but he saw a full workload with 100 pitches (58 strikes) in the outing. Darvish closes a disappointing first half with a 4.87 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 89:28 K:BB through 85 innings over 15 starts. He'll get another extended rest with the All-Star break before lining up for a road start in Philadelphia to begin the second half.

Darvish (illness) is lined up to start Friday against the Mets, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish has missed his last couple of turns in the San Diego rotation because of a non-COVID viral illness, but he's managed to avoid the IL and is feeling well enough to return to action just before the All-Star break. The 36-year-old right-hander currently stands 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 85:25 K:BB through 80 innings (14 starts) this season. He and the Padres will be aiming for a second-half rebound.

Darvish (illness) said Tuesday that he's aiming to return to the Padres' rotation this weekend against the Mets, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish hasn't pitched since June 21 due to a viral illness that caused him to lose about seven pounds, but he is beginning to regain his strength and should be able to fit in one more outing before the All-Star break. When healthy this season, the veteran right-hander has gone 5-6 with a 4.84 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 85:25 K:BB in 14 starts covering 80 innings.

Darvish (illness) won't be available to start Sunday's game against the Reds, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was moved off a scheduled start this past Tuesday in Pittsburgh while he battled an illness, but the Padres held out hope that he would show enough improvement to slot back into the rotation for the weekend series in Cincinnati. The right-hander evidently hasn't fully moved past the ailment, however, so he'll get at least one more day off to recover before the Padres revisit when he might return during the final week before the All-Star break. Adrian Morejon will draw the start Sunday, but he may be serving as more of an opener since he hasn't recorded more than seven outs in any of his appearances in the majors or minors this season.
