Hunter is out of the lineup Friday against the Indians, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Hunter will get a day off Friday in favor of Eduardo Escobar in left field, with Oswaldo Arcia sliding over to play right. Escobar will also bat in Hunter's second spot in the order. There's no indication of injury, so it's likely just a maintenance day and he should return to the lineup Saturday.

Hunter went 3-for-5 in Thursday's win over Kansas city. He hit second in the order and manager Paul Molitor said he'll stick with Hunter in that spot and Brian Dozier at cleanup, ESPN 1500 am Twin Cities reports. Hunter hit mostly second in the order for Detroit the past two seasons and says he's more comfortable in the role. His lower OBP isn't an idea fit for the top of the lineup, but the extra at-bats he'll get could boost his fantasy value slightly.

Hunter will hit second in the Twins' order Wednesday against the Royals, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Hunter was used a few times in the two hole during spring training, and now that will come to fruition during the regular season. There's no word whether this could become a permanent fixture or not, but a permanent move to second could result in extra at-bats for Hunter.

Hunter is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox, Doug Padilla of ESPN reports. This can be chalked up to a 39-year-old veteran getting rest. Hunter is probably going to require more days off than your usual starting right fielder, so adjust lineups accordingly. Shane Robinson is filling in at right field.

Hunter went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers. Hunter has slotted into the lineup in the cleanup spot in both games thus far, but has struggled at the plate as he's gone 0-for-7 with three strikeouts. He hit closer to the top of the lineup at times throughout the spring, but appears to be set at either fourth or fifth in the order.

Hunter signed a one-year, $10.5 million contract with the Twins on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports. The 39-year-old Hunter will return to where it all started for what figures to be his farewell tour in major league baseball. Although Hunter's numbers declined last season, his two years in Detroit were a rousing success, as he hit .295/.327/.456 with 70 doubles and 34 homers. His return to Minnesota will likely push Oswaldo Arcia back to left field and relegate Jordan Schafer to a reserve role.

Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said Friday that he doesn't think the team will re-sign Hunter, MLive.com reports. Hunter showed this season that he still has something left in the tank at 39, batting .286 with 17 homers and 83 RBI in 142 games, but Dombrowski said he doesn't think Hunter would be a fit for the team in 2015. Last month, Hunter said that he hadn't made a final decision about playing next season but that he was leaning toward playing another year.

Now 39, Hunter is planning on playing in 2015 with the hope of making a push for a World Series title. The Tigers have made finding a new center fielder their top priority, while re-signing Victor Martinez is also on Dombrowski's wish list, which may ultimately leave Hunter as an odd-man out with regards to the team's 2015 plans after he hit .286/.319/.446 with 17 homers and 83 RBI in 142 games in 2014.

Hunted indicated after Sunday's Game 3 loss to the Orioles that he does not plan to retire, James Schmehl of MLive.com reports. With the Tigers eliminated from the playoffs and Hunter set to become a free agent, there has been speculation that the veteran could call it quits after 18 major league seasons. However, Hunter said he's still chasing a World Series ring and, as of now, has no plans to retire. The 39-year-old said he'd welcome another stint with Detroit, but it remains to be seen whether the club will present him with an offer. Despite his advanced age, Hunter has remained very productive. In 142 games this season, Hunter slashed .286/.319/.446 with 17 home runs, 83 RBI and four stolen bases.
