Wilhelmsen was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
An absolutely disastrous outing Monday -- he gave up six runs on nine hits in one inning -- raised Wilhelmsen's ERA to 10.55 through 21.1 innings with the big club this season. Nick Martinez was recalled in a corresponding move. Wilhelmsen could be a DFA candidate the next time the Rangers need to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.

Wilhelmsen was recalled by the Rangers on Saturday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The former Mariner will be available out of the pen against his old team Saturday after being recalled. Wilhelmsen struggled through 17 appearances with the Rangers earlier in the season, working a 9.98 ERA with a WHIP of 2.15 across 15.1 innings of work. He managed to clean some things up at Triple-A Round Rock, however, notching a 1.12 ERA in five appearances. The Rangers optioned Hanser Alberto in a corresponding move Saturday.

Wilhelmsen was optioned Monday, Jeff Wilson of Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilhelmsen gave up three earned runs in each of his last two outings so the Rangers felt that was enough to option him to the minors. The 32-year-old was not pitching well aside from his most recent late-inning disasters, as he has not had an ERA below 7.00 all season. Luke Jackson was promoted in a corresponding move as Wilhelmsen will look to regain his form with Triple-A Round Rock.

Wilhelmsen (1-1) surrendered five hits, five earned runs and two homers over 0.2 innings in Friday's 11-5 loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever was victimized by Nolan Reinold and Jonathan Schoop in what turned out to be a nine-run seventh for the Orioles. Wilhelmsen has sandwiched two five-run outings around three straight scoreless efforts, which has resulted in a gaudy 22.50 ERA over his first four innings of work in 2016.

Wilhelmsen agreed to a $3.1 million deal with the Rangers on Wednesday, avoiding arbitration, ESPN's Jerry Crasnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
His fantasy value took a big hit when he was traded to the Rangers, as they have a number of high-impact bullpen arms that will make it tough for Wilhelmsen to find his way to save chances. He still has another year of arbitration before he becomes a free agent in 2018.

Wilhelmsen was traded from the Mariners to the Rangers on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Wilhelmsen posted a strong season for the Mariners in 2015, posting a 3.19 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 60 strikeouts in 62 frames. His biggest letdown was his 29 walks, and it's a number he'll look to improve on as he battles for a back end spot in the Rangers bullpen in 2016.

Wilhelmsen will be unavailable for the Mariners on Thursday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After throwing 32 pitches in his first blown save of the season Wednesday, the Mariners will need to look elsewhere if a save situation were to come up. Wilhelmsen should be available again in the next couple days, but Carson Smith seems the likely option to receive the save opportunity Thursday should it present itself.

Wilhelmsen was charged with his first blown save of the season Wednesday after giving up a ninth-inning run on two hits and two walks in Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Wilhelmsen has been far from excellent out of the Seattle bullpen this year, but he'd been unbeaten in a dozen save chances leading into Wednesday's action. Still, like the Mariners' closer to start the year, Fernando Rodney, Wilhelmsen puts too many runners on base, as evidenced by his ugly 1.41 WHIP. He'll remain the closer in Seattle to end the season, but it'd be a surprise to see him still occupying the role on Opening Day next year.

Wilhelmsen allowed one hit in a clean ninth inning to pick up his 11th save in a 3-1 win over the Angels on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Wilhelmsen has been brilliant since capturing the closer's role, as he's converted nine saves in his last 10 outings. The righty has also gone 12 straight outings without allowing a run and if he were the closer all season long, the Mariners may not be so far our of the playoff race. It remains to be seen if he'll keep the role next season, but he's putting together a nice resume and will close the remainder of this year.

Wilhelmsen picked up his 10th save of the year on Sunday, giving up just two hits in 1.2 innings to close the door on the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
That's another multi-inning save for Wilhelmsen --- three in the last nine days --- as The Bartender has looked good in his limited time as the closer. He hasn't given up a run in 9.2 innings, and has posted a 9:3 K:BB during that stretch, solid numbers considering the Mariners' struggles with the closer role this year.
