Scheppers (abdomen) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
He is on the DL but has been throwing bullpen sessions and is now ready to face hitters in game action as part of his rehab. Once healthy he will occupy a low-leverage role in the Rangers' bullpen.

Scheppers was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
A second opinion confirmed Scheppers is dealing with an abdominal strain, which will ultimately land him on the DL to open the season. The 30-year-old is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Saturday, which should help provide a better idea of when he could be ready to return. His absence to begin the season opened up a roster spot for Dario Alvarez.

Scheppers (abdomen) is set to throw a bullpen session Saturday and remains listed as day-to-day, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander went for a second opinion on his abdominal strain, which confirmed the initial diagnosis. Saturday's bullpen session and subsequent reevaluation ought to shed light on how close he is to returning to game action. For now, Scheppers appears to be a question mark heading into Opening Day.

Scheppers (abdomen) is not yet ready to return to live action, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Scheppers has been attempting to return to Cactus League play Wednesday, but it appears a trip to the DL or extended spring training is more likely. The 30-year-old reliever exited his last spring game with the injury after allowing three runs over 1.1 innings. Scheppers' absence could open up a middle-relief spot for Alex Claudio or even Dario Alvarez.

Scheppers (abdomen) could return to Cactus League play Wednesday, MLB.com's TR Sullivan reports.
EDGE Analysis
He recently left a game with a left abdominal strain, so it would be a bit surprising if he returned just days later. Scheppers projects to open the year in a middle relief role.

EDGE Analysis
Scheppers exited Friday's game with a left abdominal strain. No officially timetable has been established for his return, but the team has not ruled him out for Opening Day yet. More updates should hopefully become available in the coming days.

Scheppers has been diagnosed with a left abdominal strain and sent for further evaluations, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The team isn't ruling out a sports hernia, a condition which would set him back for at least a month. Regardless, Scheppers' status for Opening Day is certainly in jeopardy and could open up a larger bullpen role for Alex Claudio or Nick Martinez. Upcoming tests should provide a better estimate as to the extent of the injury.

Scheppers left Friday's spring appearance with an apparent lower half injury, The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Scheppers was struggling to record outs before leaving with the injury as well. The right-hander dealt with microfracture surgery in his knee last season, and he hasn't looked like himself for much of spring training, with a 6:5 K:BB and a brutal 1.83 WHIP over his 7.2 innings of work. Scheppers shouldn't be considered a lock for Texas's Opening Day roster any more, particularly if this injury costs him a chance to show his old form is around before spring runs out.

Scheppers tossed a scoreless inning for his first save Tuesday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers bullpen was exhausted from an extra-innings contest Monday night, leaving Scheppers in line for his first save opportunity since returning from the DL September 6. Scheppers has now recorded 10 outs without allowing a single baserunner, and he figures to be a key part of Texas's bullpen down the stretch, perhaps serving as the setup man to Sam Dyson.

Scheppers (knee) was activated from the 60-day DL on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
February knee surgery put Scheppers on the shelf for an extended period but he's reached the end of the long recovery process. Scheppers struggled last year but he was excellent during his rehab assignment, allowing just one run on six hits in eight innings between Double-A Frisco and Triple-A Round Rock. He won't be in the mix to close but Scheppers may quickly become a key part of the bridge to Sam Dyson.
