Schepeprs (elbow) threw a bullpen session Friday, Anthony Andro of Fox Sports Southwest reports. Scheppers didn't return in the 2014 season after being diagnosed with an inflamed right elbow in early June. He said his arm felt great after the bullpen session, and he plans to throw again next week. Though he ended up missing more time than initially expected, he should be good to go by the start of the 2015 season, as he'll transition back to the bullpen and work as a reliever.

Scheppers (elbow) has been transferred to the 60-day DL. Scheppers was diagnosed with an inflamed right elbow in early June and has been sidelined in the meantime, despite an initial prognosis of six weeks of rest. After shuffling between starting and relieving this season, he'll revert to what made him a valuable commodity in the first place, a reliever, in 2015.

Scheppers (elbow) said Tuesday that he'll be a reliever in 2015, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Even if he doesn't throw his hoped-for bullpen session before season's end, Scheppers appears ready to put himself in a situation to succeed. That certainly wasn't the case this year, as he posted a horrendous 9.82 ERA, 1.909 WHIP, and 1.63 K/BB in 18.1 innings across four starts. His relief outings weren't much better -- four runs on four hits and two walks to go with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings -- but a lack of health was really the bane of his existence in 2014.

Tanner Scheppers (elbow) said Thursday that the likelihood of him returning this season is "very slim." Scheppers is two weeks into a six-week shutdown period for right elbow inflammation. "You kind of feel a little bit worthless just sitting on the DL, just watching on the sidelines," Scheppers said. "The likelihood of me coming back this year is very slim. It's not looking all that great, which is frustrating, but I have to look at the big picture things sometimes and get healthy."

Rangers placed RHP Tanner Scheppers on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury. Yet another disabled list stint for a Rangers player. Scheppers has been battling elbow issues for the large majority of the 2014 season and is now out indefinitely.

Rangers activated RHP Tanner Scheppers from the 15-day disabled list. Scheppers allowed six runs (five earned) on nine hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings during his minor league rehab assignment, but the important part is that his elbow issue is behind him. While the Rangers had him in the rotation to begin the season, he'll return as a reliever.

Tanner Scheppers (elbow) will pitch on Tuesday for Double-A Frisco. After making three relief appearances at Triple-A, Tanner Scheppers (elbow) will continue to rehab a level lower. His last two Triple-A appearances have been rocky, as the righty allowed six hits (three of them homers) and five runs in just 2 2/3 innings. The Rangers likely want to see better results before bringing him back.

Tanner Scheppers (elbow) will make three more rehab appearances before returning to the Rangers. Scheppers threw his first rehab inning on Saturday at Double-A Frisco, allowing one (unearned) run. The current track he's on is leading to a June 3 activation date. Scheppers has been out since April 18 with elbow inflammation and will return in a bullpen role.

Tanner Scheppers (elbow) will return as a reliever. The Rangers are worried about putting too much stress on the right-hander's elbow, so they'll move him back to a mid-relief role. Scheppers has been on the disabled list since April 18 with elbow inflammation. He is currently throwing bullpen sessions and should be ready for activation near the end of this month.

Rangers manager Ron Washington said Tuesday that the club hasn't determined whether Tanner Scheppers (elbow) will be used as a starter or reliever when he returns. "We haven't discussed that yet," Washington said. "It's premature. The main thing is to get him healthy. We've got to get him healthy and ready to compete again. When we get closer to that, before we start ramping him up we'll make a decision because we have to set up his program. We haven't set the program yet." Scheppers threw a 25-30 pitch bullpen session Monday with no issues. The righty prefers to remain a starter but is "willing to accept anything."
