Van Slyke (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Jack Baer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The expectation as of Sunday was that Van Slyke would be able to get back on the field after a few days off, but it was announced Tuesday that his back injury ultimately would require a stint on the DL. Per Eric Stephen of SB Nation Van Slyke would have been sidelined for at least the next five-to-six days, which influenced the Dodgers' decision to place him on the disabled list. Enrique Hernandez will draw the start in left field Tuesday, but Howie Kendrick may also see some innings in left in the coming days.

Van Slyke (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Van Slyke's lower back injury isn't believed to be severe enough to warrant a DL stint, he will sit out for the second consecutive game Tuesday. He initially tweaked his back on a swing during an at-bat Saturday against Madison Bumgarner and eventually left the game. Enrique Hernandez will take over in left field for Tuesday's game, batting leadoff. Van Slyke may be nearing a return, but with right-hander Rubby De La Rosa on the mound for the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, there's no guarantee he returns to the lineup before Thursday.

Van Slyke (back) reported feeling better Sunday, and will not be placed on the DL, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Van Slyke isn't in the lineup Sunday, but that is likely just precautionary. Trayce Thompson is starting in his place, but look for an update regarding Van Slyke's status for their upcoming three-game series with the Diamondbacks in the near future.

Van Slyke (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Van Slyke experienced some lower back tightness during the third inning of Saturday's game against the Giants. He had started three games in place the the injured Carl Crawford (back), but now will be replaced in left field by Trayce Thompson. The severity of his injury has not yet been announced, but it's likely an update on his status will surface soon.

Van Slyke left Saturday's game in the third inning with a lower back tightness, David Vassegh of AM 570 in Los Angeles reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although his first and only at-bat ended with him being hit by a pitch, Van Slyke appeared to tweak something on a swing earlier in the count according to SB Nation's Eric Stephen. With Carl Crawford (back) already on the disabled list, any time Van Slyke has to miss will put the Dodgers in a bind in the outfield. A further update on the severity of Van Slyke's injury figures to be made available later Saturday.

Van Slyke is starting in left field and hitting fifth in Thursday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The start comes with Carl Crawford getting a day off to rest, as Van Slyke wouldn't typically be starting against a righty (Jake Peavy in this case). He's often a trendy play in daily leagues against lefties, but there are better options in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday, such as Chase Utley, Corey Seager, Adrian Gonzalez and Joc Pederson.

Van Slyke went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks in his return to the lineup Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Dodgers held Van Slyke out of action Friday, but he's not lined up for an everyday role to begin the season anyway, even with Andre Ethier out for 10-14 weeks. Van Slyke figures to see steady playing time in left field and at first base when the Dodgers are facing a left-handed starting pitcher.

Van Slyke's hip flexor has improved and he hopes to play Thursday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Andre Ethier (leg) on the shelf likely until sometime in June, Van Slyke will battle Carl Crawford for at-bats in left field.

Van Slyke is dealing with a minor hip flexor and will be out for one or two days, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Van Slyke was scratched from Sunday's Cactus League game after his hip flared up, but it doesn't sound like it's anything to get worked up about. After a couple days of rest, Van Slyke figures to return to action.

Van Slyke is 9-for-22 with three home runs this spring and appears set to open on the 25-man roster.
EDGE Analysis
No surprise there. Van Slyke should play against most left-handers, splitting time between the outfield and first base when Adrian Gonzalez needs a day off.
