Madson fired 1.2 scoreless innings in Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Mariners, recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The former closer wraps up the first half with five consecutive scoreless appearances and 10 in his last 11 trips to the mound overall. Madson has been particularly sharp in his age-36 season, posting a 35:6 K:BB over 37.3 innings and generating a career-low 0.80 WHIP. He's been called upon frequently, as his 38 appearances to date given him an outside chance of eclipsing the career-high 79 he logged with the Phillies back in 2009. Madson remains a viable fantasy asset given his workload and performance thus far, and could even be in line for some save opportunities in the second half if the Oakland bullpen is shaken up at the trade deadline.

Madson was credited with his 14th hold in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox, firing a scoreless seventh inning and recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Madson got through his one frame on a quick nine pitches, giving him his fifth hold in the last eight appearances. The 36-year-old right-hander has proven to be one of the most reliable options out of the Athletics bullpen, and he's demonstrated that his veteran arm still has plenty of life by already racking up 33.2 innings across 35 appearances.

Madson gave up an earned run on one hit over an inning in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old saw a five-appearance scoreless streak snapped when he surrendered a sacrifice fly to Matt Adams in the eighth. Madson does have 13 holds over his 33 outings this season, while his fastball continues to clock in the mid-90s with regularity. His 31 strikeouts over 32 innings demonstrate that he's still aptly capable of missing bats, as does his impressive 0.94 WHIP. Santiago Casilla retains a hold of the primary closer's job for the moment, but Madson, who has two 30-plus save seasons on his resume, is certainly a candidate should manager Bob Melvin opt to experiment with that role.

Madson was credited with his 11th hold in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Yankees, firing a scoreless eighth inning.
EDGE Analysis
The former closer continues to rack up the holds, with Sunday's marking his fourth of June and second in as many games. Madson has produced scoreless efforts in four of his last five trips to the mound as well and sports a rock-solid 2.63 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB over 27.1 innings this season.

Madson (1-4) gave up three earned runs on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning in Sunday's 11-10 loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
One day after notching his eighth hold of the season, Madson was back out there in the eighth inning and charged with preserving a 3-3 tie. However, a three-run home run by Ryan Zimmerman quickly spoiled those plans and snapped the veteran's six-appearance scoreless streak. Despite the stumble, Madson's ERA and WHIP remain a solid 2.82 and 1.03, respectively.

Madson notched his eighth hold in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Nationals, firing a scoreless 1.1 innings and recording a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Madson's ERA now sits at an impressive 1.66 following Saturday's effort, his sixth straight scoreless outing. The 36-year-old former closer has served as one of manager Bob Melvin's most trusted options out of the bullpen throughout the season, allowing no more than one earned run in any appearance while also posting a 0.92 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB over 21.2 innings.

Madson earned his seventh hold with a scoreless eighth inning in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Indians, recording one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran got through his frame in an efficient nine pitches, wrapping up what was an impressive May. Madson compiled a 1.77 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and an 11:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings across 12 appearances. He allowed just a pair of earned runs, which came in back-to-back appearances, and he enters June with five-appearance scoreless streak. Santiago Casilla continues to hold on to the closer job for the time being, but Madson is always a candidate to receive a save opportunity on days when the former isn't available.

Madson (1-3) gave up an earned run on two hits over 1.2 innings in Tuesday's 9-6 win over the Mariners. He also stuck out two and was charged with his second blown save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Madson blew a 4-3 lead upon coming on in the seventh by allowing an RBI fielder's choice to Jean Segura, and then allowed the Mariners to take the lead by giving up a 355-foot solo shot to Kyle Seager in the eighth. The 36-year-old right-hander has now given up a run in two consecutive appearances for the first time this season while also blowing saves in each of those outings as well. However, given his solid 2.35 ERA and strong overall performance this season, he figures to remain a heavily used late-inning option for manager Bob Melvin.

Madson (0-3) gave up an earned run on two hits in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Called on in the seventh with the Athletics clinging to a 4-3 lead, Madson gave up an RBI double to Elvis Andrus, although that run went on Kendall Graveman's ledger. However, Madson followed up by allowing a bloop single to Nomar Mazara that gave the Rangers a 5-4 lead that they wouldn't relinquish. The former closer hadn't given up a run since April 25 prior to Sunday, a stretch of six appearances. Despite the stumble, the veteran right-hander has compiled a 1.98 ERA and four holds while also recording a save. If current ninth-inning man Santiago Casilla's struggles extend beyond his rough outing last Friday, Madson could conceivably see some save chances in the near future.

Madson fired a scoreless eighth inning in Monday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Angels. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
The former closer mowed down Albert Pujols, Luis Valbuena and Danny Espinosa on 15 pitches during his one inning of work, getting both Pujols and Espinosa on swinging strikes. the 30-year-old right-hander has now rattled off five straight scoreless appearances while lowering his ERA from 2.25 to 1.46 in the process. With Sean Doolittle (shoulder) on the shelf, Madson could certain be in line for occasional save opportunities on days when Santiago Casilla is unavailable.
