Ricky Romero gave up four runs in five innings Thursday against the Indians. All three hits and two of the three walks Romero allowed came during the four-run second inning, which featured Jack Hannahan's three-run homer. Romero's rep before last season was that one bad inning ruined a pretty high percentage of his starts. Still, he's a much improved pitcher from his younger days and today's mediocre showing should prove to be an anomaly.

Ricky Romero allowed two runs on six hits in nine innings on Monday, but had to settle for a no-decision in Toronto's 3-2, 10-inning win over the Angels. Romero struck out five and walked none in his third nine-inning effort of 2011. Both runs came on solo homers. He'll bring a 2.98 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into his Saturday outing against the Rays, which should be his final start of the season.

Ricky Romero tossed eight innings of one-run ball, allowing just one hit, to beat the Rays on Tuesday. He allowed four walks, striking out seven. The only hit -- and run -- he allowed was a Desmond Jennings solo homer in the sixth inning. This is Romero's second consecutive stellar outing after he struck out eight while tossing 8 1/3 scoreless innings in a victory against the Orioles on Wednesday. Prior to those starts, Romero hadn't allowed less than four runs in an outing since July 1. It's safe to say he's back. Romero is 9-9 with a 2.98 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 133 strikeouts.
